On his 16th birthday Wilbert Plijnaar sold his fist batch of stories to the Dutch Disney magazine "Donald Duck'- which is and has been for many years, the starting point for many artists and writers. (some of those early stories recently have been reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics And Stories )

Following his Disney debut, he co wrote and sketched 14 books in, what without a doubt is the most recognized boys comic series in The Netherlands : "Sjors & Sjimmie". As the "Wi" in the team responsible for the series, "the Wiroja's" , he then oversaw editing of 31 more books based on the same characters written and illustrated by others.

The Wiroja's then moved on to a series of girl comics, named after it's lead character "Claire" . Thus far 16 books have appeared in this series

In 1995 the Wiroja's entire work in comics was awarded the prestigious Dutch Stripschap Prize.

That same year Wilbert was abducted by Warner Bros Feature Animation and he lives in Los Angeles ever since. During the past years he contributed designs and storyboards for numerous animation features, including Quest for Camelot, Osmosis Jones (Warner Bros), Jimmy Neutron - Boy Genius (Paramount/Nickelodeon), Shrek II and Over the Hedge (Dreamworks), Curious George (Universal) , Ice Age, Robots, and Ice Age 2 - the meltdown,( 20th Century Fox/Blue Sky) and more.

Wilbert is currently working at the Walt Disney's Animation Studio in Burbank where he recently co-wrote and story boarded the Goofy short "How To Hook Up Your Home Theater" (2007) and is a member of the story team of Disney's return to 2D animation, "The Princess and the Frog" (2009).
