As an artist, teacher, and writer, the message that dominates my stories is the interconnectedness of Nature. This connection to Mother Earth inspires my work.

An experience or a phrase/ sentence spoken has often been a catalyst for my children's stories. During my residence in one of the oldest homes on Cape Cod, hundreds of seagulls took up residence on the roof during April when the herring ran upstream. A curious seagull stood watching me and ignited Harry the Vegetarian Seagull, a favorite read aloud story. Harry becomes aware of extinction of a species because of his unique diet, vegetarianism.

Celeste, the Babysitter is the most recent story. "Of course, no one believed that we had been inside a whale." The babysitter, Celeste, is an extraordinary adventure with the focus on environmental waste and its effects on mammals in the ocean.

I have been in love with language all my life and enjoy telling tales for an audience that continues to BELIEVE.
