I'm a writer/producer by trade, (print, broadcast, scriptwriting, children's books, film and digital media, greeting cards, you name it) and deeply committed to my daily deconstruction of media/marketing's impact on kids as the founder of Shaping Youth.org, my new nonprofit.

My first children's book was authored in middle school, ( a visual way for kids to memorize numbers) and my most recent book just came out a few weeks ago as a co-author of a global social media effort to benefit Variety, the Children's Charity, called The Age of Conversation. (100 bloggers, one conversation, I was the token nonprofit, writing about ethics & accountability in children's advertising/marketing...chapter title: "Mommy, why is that lady licking a beer bottle?" It opened my eyes to how rapidly digital dialogue is changing the conversation, and inspired me with the speed in which we can mobilize youth, media, and even the marketing machine to shift the worldview for kids in a healthier direction.

We're not anti-media, we're IN the media, so we try to write about cool new apps like Library Thing, ReaderGirlz, Global Kids Digital Initiative and more, but also report on the 'good the bad and the ugly' from a pithy prose perspective. ;-)
