My PASSION for writing started around the same time I took the training wheels off my bike, and continued to soar during my training bra years! Today, my imagination and pen are ignited in broader ways now that I have my own 7 year old. I write poetry, SONG LYRICS (published in 2008),CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOKS AND YOUNG READERS (e-published after placing in FL. contest) SHORT STORY ADULT FICTION and INSPIRATIONAL short stories. I am particularly interested and passionate about children's books that teach strength of character, making right choices in life, dealing with disabilities or differences and accepting them in yourself or others, and elements of finding your faith. And of course making kids laugh out loud with a story I think is the most FUN as I have 4 zany boys myself and am inspired on a DAILY basis. I carry a notebook around with me everywhere and write down the goofy things they say or do, such as yesterday when I found a live lizard in my jewelry box! (no fiction required at my house!)I am currently working on a MULTICULTURAL CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOK entitled "Chinchilla Summer" that is a young reader short chapter book. The idea and goal for this particular book is to introduce spanish words and culture into the characters and story line. It also has a element of fantasy as both animals and people characters coincide with eachother as equals. For example, the main character "Chex", a chinchilla, gets a summer job as a lifeguard at a pool where both animals and people swim. Chex must make some tough decisions for himself during the course of his summer job, but the story concludes with a laugh out loud "Gotcha" ending! If you are ever interested in reading any of my manuscripts (16 childrens, 2 short story adult--one humor and one inspirational, --countless song lyrics and poems) I would LOVE to hear from you and get your opinion!!!!
