As an award-winning author and storyteller, I have traveled to Africa, Asia, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, South America to collect material for my fiction and nonfiction books and for my storytelling.

Currently under submission: "A Dangerous Game: Hiding Chaya," YA fiction based on Nazi-occupied Polish history featuring an 8 year old girl hidden by Polish gentiles during the length of the war. In the 1970s, I was seeking a special menorah for a wedding present. My son, who is a rabbi, suggested I visit a tinsmith's shop in Silver Spring, Maryland. On a table crowded with brass carriage lamps and gleaming copper pots stood several black menorahs welded out of nails. "These are copies of the secret menorah I made and lighted in a concentration camp," the proprietor told me. I asked for more details. "Come to my house, and my wife and I will tell you our story. Not too many people are willing to listen."

My biographies of teenagers who escaped the Nazis by using their own wits and courage are designed for grades 6 up with multi-media ancillary materials for classroom use that have proven to educators and librarians to be excellent teaching tools for Social Studies units on World War II, World History 1933-1945, and the Holocaust.
