I am an artist/writer living in coastal Mendocino, California. A love of nature provides a constant source of inspiration for me. My college degree is in painting, but I have always loved writing, so, for my Senior Project, I created a hand-crafted book celebrating gardens, using my art and prose poetry. It opened a whole new creative venue for me. I now have more than 15 books that I put together by hand, some under the pen name "Grandma Fishpond." They are popular and I have sold so many that I am getting a wee bit tired of putting them together. I have never attempted to have them published commercially, but now I am thinking about it. All of my books are illustrated with my own work and the categories are mainly children's, as well as some with inspirational and garden themes. They depict a magical world of fantasy, combined with simple philosophies for happiness and fulfillment. Although they are special because of the handwork, the stories stand on their own. My studio, Wisteria Studio, is located in my garden and my husband and I share a wonderful life on three beautiful acres in Mendocino, with the Pacific Ocean and the headland's cliffs only five minutes away
Two of my books have been purchased by the University of California for their permanent library and four of the children's books are now on the permanent syllabus at Berkeley High School for their Senior Class on Writing for Children. Because Mendocino is a traveler's "destination" my books are purchased from visitors from all over the world. I receive many letters and notes from children and adults and that is so special to me. It makes the hours it takes to create keepsake books worthwhile.
My address is: Evie Wilson, Wisteria Studio, P.O. Box 377, Mendocino, California 95460.(
