About Vera-Chipatso
Hie!
Just where do I start? Alright. I’m a novelist, playwright, painter, singer and songwriter, actress, ceramist, sculptor, …what else? I’m an artist to (almost) the fullest definition, that’s who I am.
However, I love to be looked at as simply a young woman in her third year of college with great potential and who sees no boundaries in life.
How can one be all those? You ask. Some of those are in born and some of those, I’m training in my degree programme. I’m doing a bachelors in Arts, Humanities. I’m majoring in Art History but also study and practice fine art components like ceramics, painting and drawing, and sculpture. Apart from the fine arts, I also study and practice Drama-directing and Drama-acting. And for my outside faculty course, I take psychology which I’m minoring especially Organisational psychology after taking all the other aspects for the past two years I’ve spent in college. I used to study literature in the first couple of years of college and with the drama experiences I got inspired me to write my own plays.
Enough of school, my in born abilities are writing novels and songs as well as singing and acting. I acted in a local movie when I was in my first year. I also love dancing.
I’ve just finished writing one short novel “Grandma’s journal” which I wrote in between my bigger project of a series of three novels under one title.
The other short novels that I did in secondary school (equivalent to high school) all got stolen except for one that even I knew wasn’t as exciting.
I’ve never published my work or produced any of my songs as my family insisted that I get the grip of my educational future first before starting anything that no one knows, could blow out of proportion and disturb my academic focus. Of course now I’m almost a graduate and so I see myself ready to start publishing, at least literally work rarely has outbursts as music and acting, does it?
I’ve been raised by my mother after my father passed, way back in a car crash when I was just two years old. However, I believe he still influenced our lives as a family as we had to follow his footsteps (of course I don’t know if I also have wild dreams of becoming a professor like him but at least I plan to get an MA after my BA). The rest of my two sisters and brother graduated before me and one other sister of mine is doing her BA in Accountancy in the same University of Malawi as I am. Thus five of us in all.
And thank God for the strong character of a woman He gave me for a mother. Without her sacrifices as a single woman who wasn’t earning much from her job we wouldn’t have been who we are today and what we are becoming.
Alright, we are done there. Who is my role model? Well, in my writing field I have J.K Rowling. My brother made sure he bought me each of the Harry Potter copies once they had been released and the movies too. I’ve learnt so much from her writing and her courage and persistence especially in the early life of her writing career. I also got strengthened as she’s been successful in a field similar to mine. I write mystery stories and science fiction and got strength when I saw J.K Rowling as I then knew I didn’t have to write just realistic fiction in order to sell (like Danielle Steel).
Alright, I’ve talked a lot. If there’s anything you’d like to know about me that I haven’t addressed, you can always ask me.
