Betty Sargeant writes and illustrates. Her picture book Wayne Boris Carlo was published in 2011 and was translated into Swedish in 2012. RED, her adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood, was published in 2012.

Betty was awarded a 2012 Varuna Writer's House fellowship to develop her new picture book work. She is also being funded to transform this work into a digital, interactive picture book (RMIT University, Melbourne).

Betty's Illustrations have been exhibited at the the Primo Piano Living Gallery ITALY (2012, 2011), the Northcote Town Hall (2011), Australia, and the Linden Centre For Contemporary Arts Australia (2011).
