Founded in 1983 as a part of Brassey's Ltd., a distinguished British publishing house dating back to the nineteenth century, Potomac Books, Inc. was acquired by American book distributor Books International in 1999. (Potomac Books, Inc. is no longer connected to Brassey's Ltd.) With strong roots in military history, Potomac Books, Inc. has expanded its editorial focus to include general history, world and national affairs, foreign policy, defense and national security, intelligence, memoirs, biographies, and sports, with eighty-five new titles being published annually. Its offices and warehouse are located in Dulles, Virginia, just outside Washington, DC.
