Hello, and welcome! My name is Patrick Mader, an elementary teacher and children's picture book author from Northfield, Minnesota. I grew up on a small diverse farm in Minnesota with six brothers and sisters with parents who gave us both roots and wings.

My background is in three diverse fields: farming, education, and business. All of these occupations have helped me learn and improved my written and verbal communication skills.

I have collaborated with illustrator Andrew Holmquist on two published books with a third scheduled to be launched in midsummer 2008. The titles of the books are Opa & Oma Together and Oma Finds a Miracle, two intergenerational stories that have positive messages with a rural setting. Opa and Oma are German and Dutch words for "grandpa" and "grandma". It is surprising how often you hear those terms when you have written a book that has them in the title!

I now teach at Morristown Elementary and have a wonderful family life. My wife, Karen, is a nurse and extraordinary volunteer at schools, church, and in health ministry. Our two children attend high school. Our daughter was the person who inspired me to begin writing stories for publication!
