1. Around the House

There's a whole lot of work going on around here, but the walls were starting to close in on me, so I had to clear the decks a bit. I've been on a tear around here sorting and organizing. I can actually walk into my kids rooms in the dark without risking serious bodily injury. It's a good thing.

I have a serious 'putting holes in walls' phobia. It takes me years to get around to hanging up art. As a matter of fact, I still haven't installed the door hardware on my kitchen cabinets. It's been almost 3 years. My goal is to complete that job this month. Anyhoo, I finally hung some of the art that's been propped up around my studio.

Over my bookcase. Love my new Kelly Rae Roberts clock, now if only I could tell time ;) To the right is one of my birdhouse frames like the ones for sale in my Etsy shop. You can get yours here.

Here is a favorite print by my friend, Devon. Her garden and her art are amazing. Below is a piece by Cori Dantini.

And another Kelly Rae Roberts piece.

I have two of these shutters to use for display. Not sure where to put them yet. Don't you love the cute calendar by my friend, Elizabeth Caldwell? They're 50% off now!

2. This & That

Life is slowly returning to normal around here. There are only a couple of boxes left inside, the garage is quite another story. My studio is coming together, too. There are just a few tweaks left to do, so I can actually work in here now. So exciting.

My studio gets eastern light, so I was happy to see this the other morning. The disco ball ornament I have hanging from the ceiling was throwing dots of sunlight all over the room.

On Sunday, I had a bit of time to create some art, so I painted some tiny 1" color pencil artworks for these frames I had laying around. I'm thinking of selling them in my Etsy shop. I'll let you know.

Last week I collaged these letters for the boys' doors. I haven't decided whether to paint them also. These have been on my craft to do list for awhile. Is it weird to have a craft to do list?

Here's a sneak peak of what I'm working on now. It's fun to combine acrylic paint, crayon, & Photoshop.

3. In My Studio

A week ago, I went on a trek to Ikea. Love that place. A friend and I spent 3 hours, shopping, looking, and dreaming there. So much fun! It's my idea of a candy store.

My studio is usually in a state of chaos. It's a loft space upstairs with no closet, so I have almost no storage. I have a "Grand Plan", but so far no funds to back it up, so I muddle along dreaming of how it will be "Someday".

Recently, I began to collage. Those of you who do this know how many bits and pieces you collect to collage with. I actually avoided collage for awhile because I knew where it would lead. I'm so glad I finally gave in because I love it! Above you can see the solution. It's a handy set of drawers in which I can store all my papers, bottles, paints, brushes, and sparkly bits. I love it! Now I actually have a work space on my drawing board and I can find what I need easily. Thank you Ikea! Luckily, mine came with all the screws. Carol wasn't so lucky as you can read here.
