1. Perfumes, olfactory art, and philosophy

What could philosophy have to do with odors and perfumes? And what could odors and perfumes have to do with Art? After all, many philosophers have considered smell the lowest and most animal of the senses and have viewed perfume as a trivial luxury.

3. Banish Dream Bandit Gowns

I was looking through so many of my old notebooks and seeing that much of the guidance I received was repeated over and over, I just didn’t get it. Sigh. But at least now I am! Woo-hoo! Anyhow, I am taking Sheri Gaynor’s Creative Awakening class and we are drawing affirmations to get rid of our Dream Bandits. I elected to draw some new dresses. Check it out.

4. IF:Cocoon

For IF, I thought of my Barriers and Protection gown. I wish I had it sewn for real. Nowadays, everyone I know is going through major stuff and could really use a cocoon. Ironically, I just wrote about needing a safe place in my previous blog post.

I’ve been really diggin’ creating my Fairy Goddess Gowns and making custom Goddess Gown drawings. It must be the influence of watching so  much Project Runway previous series. I’m currently on Season 6 in my Netflix rotation. I find that I can express my deepest part of me–another way to access my intuition–through these drawings, and often find telling symbolism I missed way after I’ve drawn.

5. My Budding Designer

Last fall, my youngest handed me this sketch, informing me that he wanted to have me make it for him. He was in his Michael Jackson phase as you can see from the colors he specced. I talked him into a more subtle palette, searched for fabric, and a pattern that was close enough. Then we bought a house and my life turned upside down. I begged my mom to take over the project and she graciously agreed.Today, she brought over the results. I love it!!!! It's in a microsuede and tweed. I had the twead left over from a long ago, unfinished project. So happy to have found a use for it. Still needs a little tweaking in the fit, but he's happy. I think this guy has a future in fashion design. What do you think?

6. My clothes worksheet

clothing-copyPart of the fashion design exercise was to draw your clothes and make little outfits. I had fun with Photoshop the other day. Next step will be designing my little line of clothes.

For those of you who know me, know I love drawing my clothes (okay, I know, weird), and love designing (henceforth the name, Designing Fairy). I do believe this constitutes as a hobby? I hope so because I don’t appear to have one. Lots of passions, no real hobby. chinupchinookiamenough2

This is one of my gown designs from my Goddess Gown collection.
