17. Round 1 - Ryu (リュウ)

I've always had a soft spot for Street Fighter. Forget Primal Rage, Killer Instinct or Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter was the fighting game for me! I even loved the terrible 1994 film version when it came out. Ryu has always been one of my favorites. Can you guess the next two? Check out more video game art and characters over at the Autumn Society for their "8-bit and Beyond!" show premiering this Friday, August 7th, at 6pm! Hadōken!!!

18. Childhood Heroes! - Supa Saiyajin Son Goku

another Dragonball character. I think I will do one more character for this series and then focus on other sets of 3. Some other japanese cartoons I plan on paying tribute to are: Captain Tsubasa, Saint Seiya, Astro Boy, Tetsujin 28, and Cyborg 009. There's also the amazing Cowboy Bebop, but I'm saving that one for a different series. For now, hope you like this guy, Super Saiyajin Son Goku! I've always liked this version of Goku, all powered, beaten up, but still ready to fight to the end! KA-ME-HA-ME-HAaaAAaaA!!!

19. Childhood Heroes! - Majin Buu!

I'm currently working on a small book project that will collect and pay tribute to a lot of the characters that I grew up with and that have influenced my work. Don't know when I'll be done since there's a long list, but for some reason I wanted to start with this guy below....
Those unfamiliar with this character, his name is Majin Buu and he belongs to the wonderful world of Dragonball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

21. Golden Age Face - Popeye!

My first submission for the Autumn Society's Golden Age Show. The show will feature heroes from the golden age of comics and animation, illustrated by the society's members. I've always been a huge Popeye fan since my grandfather was also a sailor. So growing up I always related both to each other.

25. 80s Sidekick Series - Part 1 (Orko)

Growing up in the 80s I always found it that the side kick characters or mascots from cartoons were the hardest toys to find. Inspired by these hard to find characters, I decided to do a series of three that were my favorite! Here's my first from Masters of the Universe, Orko.
