Mark Tavani will join Penguin Random House’s G.P. Putnam’s Sons imprint as vice president and executive editor.
Just prior to to Tavani’s hiring, he served as the editorial director for fiction at Ballantine Bantam Dell. In the past, he has worked with several renowned writers including Justin Cronin, China Miéville, and Steve Berry.
According to the press release, Tavani will report to Sally Kim, a vice president and editorial director. His start date has been set for Feb. 08, 2016.
Kelley Ragland has been promoted to associate publisher at the St. Martin’s Press imprint, Minotaur Books. She will also continue to serve as the editorial director.
Vice president Andrew Martin gave this statement in the announcement: “Over the past 22 years Kelley has become one of St. Martin’s most dedicated practitioners and advocates of the mystery and crime fiction trade, creating an impressive standing and profile within and without these Flatiron walls.”
Ragland has been with the company since the launch of the imprint in 1999. Some of the authors she has worked with include Chelsea Cain, Steve Berry, and Allison Brennan.

Operation Thriller sends authors to military bases around the world to entertain our troops–follow this link to read about last year’s tour. At the moment, the exact locations and tour dates cannot be revealed for security reasons. 2011 marks the 70-year anniversary of the USO organization.

This trip marks the tour’s second installment, the first one kicked off in November 2010 and was comprised of Steve Berry, David Morrell, Doug Preston, James Rollins and Andy Harp.”
