Try adding a tag yourself by clicking "Add a tag" below a post's header. Scroll down through the list of Recent Posts in the left column and click on a post title that sounds interesting. You can view all posts from a specific blog by clicking the Blog name in the right column, or you can click a 'More Posts from this Blog' link in any individual post.
I've been making a regular exercise of getting out and doing quick small pastel studies. Hopefully I can keep this going. The biggest challenge is often finding a spot to paint. There's a lot to think about - how's the light, the shadows, am I being too conspicuous, is there a shady spot to sit, etc. But it's also kind of fun driving around looking for inspiration. If you enjoyed looking at these, I'll be posting more regularly over at my facebook page,
here.
We had another successful northeast ohio kids art class, this time making 3-D food drawings! We used the medium of pastel to create our own interpretations of artist Wayne Thiebaud’s pop art paintings.
This class incorporated the use of 1 and 2 point perspective drawing! We also practiced adding a light and shadow side to objects. The results were wonderful!
We created pop art milkshakes,

And came up with our own pop-culture object. Shown below is a smart phone. Great idea, Dexter!

When you purchase an item from MY STORE, 10% of your purchase price will be donated to my favorite animal charities; Last Chance Animal Rescue and Horses Haven, both in lower MI. Which charity the donation goes to, will depend on the item purchased and I will love you forever from the bottom of my little black heart. ...and even if you don't purchase anything from me, you can go to their site and make a donation! They deserve a chance too!

Working like mad. Getting up at five AM and working until four then again after Henry falls asleep. I love it though. Getting some writing doe as well. Working on a webcomic to publish while working on Maddy Kettle. I think you'll love it.
Just a few sketchbook pages from this past week. I got int the habit of having it lay open on a nearby table and I sketch something sometimes when I'd walk by. I've also started playing with some new materials, as mentioned last post.

Oil pastel on Ingres paper. A3 size. Click to enlarge.
Another quick pastel sketch. I love how thick my sketchbook gets when I use heavy media like this.
Sometimes it's fun to just grab whatever's at hand and make a drawing. In this case I laid my hands on what are either cheap pastels or face paints and sketched this out to inaugurate my new studio.
Happy Halloween from my archives... one of my favorites.

This is me in 1986. I was 6 years old.
I was part nerd, part tomboy but that didn’t stop my mother from putting barretts in my hair. I was a little girl who liked to play in the dirt and ride my bike but the world was just a big pastel ball of sick.
God, I’m glad the 80s are over.
En ce qui me concerne c'est un peu de circonstance!... je viens d'apprendre la naissance de ma petite-fille Lise il y a quelques heures...
Une très belle oeuvre.
Bisous
Félicitations pour votre nouvelle petite-fille!
