Progress on the cover for Forts 3 continues to putter forward. It feels pretty good to be woking on these characters again. I took too much time away.
Art has always been therapy for me and this has been a rough year.

Some dig early morning exercise…and some don’t.
From the picture book I illustrated, Song For A Giraffe, this EARLY morning greeting between a baby hippo and the friendly giraffe sets the tone for a story of friendship and compassion.
Early Bird…
Either you are… or you’re NOT!
Which are you?
I still have an awful lot to do on this one. It's a little promotional piece I'm working on for the book. Not that it has anything at all in common with "The Breakfast Club," nor do I really even like the movie. The pose is recognizable enough though.

I put the kibosh on this piece at around 1AM while sitting in my darkened home office watching MST3K on DVD, and listening to my wife snore loudly in the next room.
Life is a wondrous and splendid thing, is it not?
Some good news is that after a bit of a hiatus from my novel, I dove back into it yesterday. I think the time away from it did me good. Recharged the batteries. I'm on the homestretch now, and hopefully I'll be finished with my first draft of this thing in a month or so!
Steve!
You have my sympathy, love your header.
Yeah, right, I also sighed. I often don't like the weekwords so much but in the course of the week something will usually crop up. The trouble with the words is, they're too small. I mean they often give too little guidance so everyone just interprets away.. like I did this week.. you get a lot of nice drawings but it's not really the way illustrators have to work most of the time.
Getting up so early didn't take away your inspiration at all, lolo...I love your rooster. He's absolutely perfect for the word Early...his favourite time of day, when he struts around for the benefit of his flock. I'll have to check on how to do digital collages.
Sorry you hate early. I have always been an early-to-bed-early-to-rise kind of person. I'm usually up around 4:30-5:00AM without an alarm clock. Your painting is very fitting for "early".
Beaudor thinks Emma look smart.....
Love the colors and the rooster my Ruud is a rooster,so I love roosters.
The weather is wonderful here, and in the USA?

lovely!
I slept till almost eight!!!
Pretty collage! Warm colors.
Like it very much.
I'm an early bird also, I even walk 2 miles at 6am...how crazy is that?!
I love your rendition, might not be out of the box but it is wonderful!
I slept till 7 (went to bed at 2 :()
So not much sleep.....
But I had a lot of energy today. I finished the whole terrace! Usually takes me 2 days.
Now I am enjoying a glass of red.
I love the rooster with the butterfly mandala sunrise!
Good take on early!
Hope you got a chance to rest later in the day ;)

great way to illustrate this theme. i haven't even thought of it yet
Sleep until 7? You are a dreamer. Between my DB and Luna I am up much earlier. I like your collage.
How are you, Lolo? (^_^) I hope your dog doesn't make it a habit to wake you up so early every morning, heheh. I like the silhouette look of the rooster and the colors, of course, are beautiful! :)
I actually managed to sleep in til a little after 7 a.m. Quelle SHOCK!
I sure like your little collage, especially the outline around the rooster.
Regarding Picnik - the spot of color is found through the premium purchase ($25.00/year I think). I just found it when someone else (Kaye) clued me in. I haven't looked back. The premium membership has no downside and is worth every penny.
(((Annie)))
I have a dog who gets me up too early too. "Early" didn't inspire me right away either, but it fell into place. Thanks for your comment!
I like the comparison of your sun to a mandala. Nice idea :)
Love this picture. good choice for Early. I think our dogs are on the same alarm clock. arrgh. Annie gets me up early too. I never get to sleep in during the summer with it light out early. lol If the dog fails to do the job the cat takes its place. :/
OHH how beautiful. Reminds me of a sunrise that is so amazing. Sorry about the time though. I think that is why I am hesitant to get another dog, although I miss mine. At 60 I think I like my sleep. LOL
Beautiful!Perfect for this week topic! You have your dog,I have my cat that normally ask to go out at 5:)
Now i am really at the other side of the world......
