XanEdu Publishing, a company that specializes in publishing educational materials, has raised $8.1 million in its latest round of funding, according to a report in Crain’s.

The company specializes in creating digital learning content for K-12, universities, first responders, the military and corporate markets. The toolset allows these various outlets to publish their own materials in print or digital format and to deliver the content to mobile devices. More than 1,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. use the platform. In addition, XanEdu’s digital content-delivery platform is used at campus bookstores run by Barnes & Noble and Follett.

The company will invest the new funding in sales and marketing, as well as software development.
