After I finished up my Phineas and Ferb work for a Monday deadline, I drew this Alfie sketch before I went to bed last night. It was done in about an hour and was easy to draw since Alfie was tired and curled up to sleep. He occassionally kept raising his head to wonder what I was doing while looking at him. It was drawn with the Micron Pens and I used a PITT Brush Marker for his back body hair.

Here is a teaser piece for some of my Mystery Incorporated work I finished up and will be out this summer or late summer I think. Enjoy! For the process junkies, this was drawn on paper and then scanned and then inked in layers in Illustrator and then all painted in Photoshop. Backgrounds were painted in Photoshop too. Everything is layered and I think it's about 37-40 layers total for this file. Took about two days from initial concept to finish.

Here is one of my drawing videos that I just loaded up to YouTube. I've been running it at my speaking engagements of late and so here it is for the rest of you out there in Internet Land. It's speeded up and cut to Scooby music which was all done by John Tatarelli for me. You can check out the real time, higher quality videos of it on my vimeo page (click here). They don't have any real soundtrack to the real time ones though so you can play your own music to it. This was just a teaser to get some advertising for myself.
Here is a direct link to the YouTube as well! Click Here

Tonight I lowered the prices on my original comic art pages that I did for Courage the Cowardly Dog and Ed, Edd n Eddy! I also lowered the prices on the last Scooby-Doo story I have as well though not as much. Just wanted to have a sale in time for Christmas! Check them out or relate it to any cartoon fans you may know! Thanks!

Did a sketch of the Maltese Falcon today as I waited for some Scooby approvals. I have the replica prop of the Falcon that I bought in the mid 90s so I decided to draw it. More info about it at my blog.

A Scooby collector named Jim emailed me recently and told me that he saw one of the covers I did for Scooby-Doo was used on a Russian Scooby comic! Wow! I'm global! Thought I'd post this as it's neat to see how Scooby is written in Russian. The cover was originally used here in America on Scooby-Doo #132.

My online store is finally up and running right now and about 100 pages of comic art, 58 sketches, and 36 comics or so ready for purchase! It's taken some time to get it ready amongst the work on the drawing board. More stuff will be added such as children's books and some out of print stuff that I've done when I get it scanned and ready! Anything purchased also get a certificate of authenticity with it as well so you know it's signed by me as well.

Scott Neely Draws ED, EDD N EDDY! from Scott Neely on Vimeo.
Here's a drawing I did of all three of the Eds from the Cartoon Network cartoon Ed, Edd n Eddy! The hard thing about doing this kind of group shot is trying to make each Ed unique with their facial expressions and staying within their distinct personalities. Penciled with a 5H, then tightened up with an H lead, and then inked with the Pitt Brush Marker on cheap letterhead copy paper.

Scooby Artist Scott Neely Drawing Scooby - Sketch #2 from Scott Neely on Vimeo.
Testing out my new Flip Slide HD camera and decided to draw Scooby since that is what I do professionally. Still playing with the lighting and such so it will be light on my initial sketching and it gets darker. Penciled with a 5H pencil for the initial breakdown then I tighten it up with an H pencil and then inked with a Pitt Brush Marker. I usually take longer to ink so I burned this out for the sake of a video. This is also in real time and not speeded up. For more: scottneelyart.blogspot.com

I had to go back into Scott Innes' Autograph and Promotion photo card and add Captain Caveman into the picture. Scott was recently cast to take the part and is now doing the voice of him for the WB. So we now have 22 characters total on a page! There are more, but these are the main ones or known ones that he's done voices for.

Here is a magic marker painting I did over 10 years ago of Julie Newmar as Catwoman from the 60's Batman TV series. Guess is was in the late '96 or so. It was inked in black first and then 'painted' with all gray tone markers from 10% to 80% gray on 11 x 17 paper. Then white paint was applied to give it a look of an old worn photo. It also added a great effect to her costume which really matches the highlights that were actually on her costume. That's one of the things I really still love about this piece. I used to do a lot of marker paintings before the digital age and Photoshop came into my artistic career. This one is still one that I like. Maybe I'll do an updated version since my skills have vastly improved over the last 12 or so.

Yes, I'm a big fan of the 1966's Batman series starring Adam West and Burt Ward! One of TV's greatest gems...especially the first season! Smartly-written for two audiences, great camera angles, set design and art direction. The movie that was made inbetween the first and second seasons was ok, and would be a five-star thing in my mind, if Julie Newmar was Catwoman instead of Lee Meriwether. She was a good fill-in, but Newmar owned the part. The George Barris designed Batmobile is still my favorite Batmobile as well. Here is a sketch of a great little dog named Codi that I drew with pen and ink. I did this a few years ago as I dated Codi's human who was as cute as Codi was. I used Micron Pigma Pens to draw it and it's a great sketch that I still love since the hair has such a flow to it. She would actually sit and pose for at least ten minutes since she loved the attention. Now if I could only get Alfie to do that....Ha! Well, it's been a Power Rangers Jungle Fury year so far for me, it started in mid-February and now will continue till the end of the year! Seems to be mostly PRJF and Scooby-Doo work (this November marks my ninth full year with Scooby art) with some interesting fun stuff in between. These are some pages from a second young reader Power Rangers storybook that I've worked on and there is a 3rd book which is in final inking stage and recently a 4th book was greenlit to this series and is currently being written! I'm quite happy with the art on this projects and I think little boys and girls will really dig these books! Go, Go Power Rangers! Here is the new autograph card I put together for my friend and voice-over actor/radio DJ Scott Innes. He wanted a new piece of art to use as an autograph card with all the characters that he's done voices for over the last 10 years! We put the 20 most popular characters, or better known ones, that Scott has voiced on it. Jon Alderink gave me the assist in helping me color the cartoon characters to get this sucker done as it was on my list of things to do for several months now. It came out great and really pops in color. Do you know the names of all the characters?
lovely!
