During Comic-Con International, author George R.R. Martin revealed that he would not be penning an episode for Game of Thrones season five. Ever since the HBO show began, Martin made it a practice to write one script each season.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin revealed that the reason for this decision is because “I have this book that I need to finish.” Book fans will be relieved to hear that Marin wants to focus on the highly anticipated A Song of Ice and Fire title, The Winds of Winter. Not too long ago, Martin expressed his extreme distaste for people who speculate that he may pass on before wrapping up his epic book series.
Comic-Con weekend also meant the unveiling of a video (embedded below) featuring all the new additions to the Game of Thrones cast. The new characters who will appear in the forthcoming seasons include Doran Martell, Trystane Martell, The High Sparrow, Myrcella Baratheon, Areo Hotah, Yezzan, Nymeria “Nym” Sand, Tyene Sand, and Obara Sand (to be played by Keisha Castle-Hughes). Thus far, this video has drawn more than one million views on YouTube and over 42,000 “likes” on Facebook. Follow this link to watch the season four blooper reel.

Rumors have been swirling in Hollywood that actress Keisha Castle-Hughes may join the Game of Thrones cast for season five.
Hughes, an Academy Award nominee, will likely play one of Oberyn Martell’s bastard daughters (known as the “Sand Snakes”) named Obara Sand. Vanity Fair describes Obara, the eldest of her siblings, as “think Arya meets Brienne meets Oberyn Martell.” Many feel that this character will become a fan favorite.
Earlier this year, a leak revealed that Obara is the “most athletic Sand Snake will be having a major fight scene with a series regular character- not one who crosses her path in the books. This is an interesting change.” What do you think?
