1. Our latest crisis is over, Channing Tatum will be Gambit after all

Just like Alexander posited a few days ago, it turns out that Channing Tatum was indeed undergoing a bit of public negotiating regarding his upcoming role in the X-Men spin-off, Gambit. Today, THR reports that the Magic Mike star has signed on the dotted line to play the kinetic card-wielding Cajun mutant. According to their […]

2. Rupert Wyatt to Direct the Gambit Movie

Gambit (GalleyCat)20th Century Fox has brought on Rupert Wyatt as the director for the Gambit film adaptation.

The movie studio has set the release date for October 07, 2016. Channing Tatum will play the titular role and serve as a producer on this project.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Gambit (a.k.a. Remy Etienne LeBeau) “has the ability to charge objects with energy (his favorite being playing cards), rendering them explosive.” This mutant character originates from the X-Men comic books. (via The Indiewire Blog)

3. Rupert Wyatt to direct Gambit solo feature

gambit-x-men-movie-writer

From a report in EW today, Rupert Wyatt, whose Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a feature I found to be a surprising delight a few years back, has been enlisted by 20th Century Fox to take on the (presumably rebooted) solo debut of the card-flinging mutant Gambit.

Gambit, which is set to hit screens in October of next year, joins a line-up of X-Men spin-off features for the studio that includes next March’s Ryan Reynolds-starring Deadpool and the Josh Boone directed The New Mutants, which currently has no release window. Channing Tatum will star in Gambit, and take over the role of Remy LeBeau from Taylor Kitsch, who played the character in the much-derided X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

2016 is looking to be the year of the X-Men presumably, with Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Gambit all hitting the screen within those 12 months. Gambit is scheduled to open on October 7, 2016.

4. Channing Tatum to Star as Gambit in the ‘X-Men’ Spinoff Movie

Channing TatumChanning Tatum (pictured, via) will star as Gambit for a X-Men spinoff movie.

Tatum has also signed on to serve as a producer for this film adaptation. Screenwriter Josh Zetumer has been brought on to oversee the script. Chris Claremont, the Marvel Comics writer who created this character with Jim Lee, penned the first draft of the script.

Here’s more from Deadline: “The storyline is being kept under wraps. The character, which also goes by the name Remy LeBeau, has the ability to charge matter with volatile kinetic energy, causing the object in question to explosively release its charge on impact. The character materialized in a short burst in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

5. Coaches - hate 'em or love 'em?

Did you ever have a coach for anything? Did you like your coach, or hate them?

Were they mean, tough, or nice?

Here's a snapshot from one of my favorite teen movies -
She's the Man.
The coach in this movie was very tough, (I hear he was an actual coach in real life) but in the end he was just a softie. Aww! (I'm still in love with Channing Tatum, for anyone who is curious - picture below is not Channing)

I have a trainer named Meko. This guy below kinda looks like him, but Meko I think is cuter. Meko is the toughest trainer I've ever had. I sweat from the time he comes to my house to the time he leaves me heaving on the floor after the workout. He's amazing! (although I tell him that I don't look forward to him coming and am happy to see him go, because he so tough)
My coach in high school told me this quote:
Practice doesn't make perfect...PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. My coach was Ms. Small, and she was tough but nice.

The football coach at my high school was a total jerk. He was also the driving instructor. I heard he used to rub the backs of girls' necks while they were driving in drivers' ed, but he surely didn't do that to me because I'd make sure the authorities knew about it. (although back then we were stupid and weren't savvy on sexual harassment)
Have you ever had a coach? Did you like them? What was their "coaching style?"
