1. Should we watch the Olympics?

We used to have to take time off from work --or at least leave work early-- to watch the Olympics on TV. Now we can thank the engineering marvels of DVR and web replay for protecting our love affair with the Games from our evil work schedules. We are, rightly, mesmerized by the combination of talent, discipline, skill, and genetics embodied by the world’s greatest athletes.

3. Miss Emma Ant

My newest picture book for children is here! "Miss Emma Ant" tells the story of  talented, hard-working Emma, the architect for her colony's anthills. Ants in the colony, not recognizing their own special skills, grow jealous of Emma, and taunt her until she quits her job. Chaos ensues! Will pleas from apologetic ants convince Emma to return to work? Vibrant, expressive illustrations and fun

There's our
ASIA Connection

Guardian Angel's indomitable, talented, and far-seeing CEO,
Lynda Burch, told us authors the following:
.
"I am about to sign contracts for foreign rights is Asia.
The first step will be getting our English content into
Asia as is - both ebook and print.
China has recently mandated that every child should learn to
speak English as a second language. This is great news
for us at this time. Additionally 90% of children’s
literature in China is imported from
foreign publishers!"

NOTE: That noise you hear is GAP authors and illustrators
dancing on the ceiling.

14. Why The Giants Should Eat Pasta

medical-mondays.jpg

I just spent the weekend with my family and the excitement about the Giants making the Superbowl for the first time since 2000 was palatable. So I decided to do some research and see what my hometown team could do between now and next weekend to ensure a win. I found Michael Gleeson and Ronald J Maughan’s The Biochemical Basis of Sports Performance had my answer. Their book describes the biochemical processes involved in energy provision for different sports events and the way in which limitations in the energy supply can cause fatigue and thus limit performance. Below is an excerpt I hope will help the Giants! (more…)
