It wouldn't be New Year's without THE New Year's icon, Dick Clark. We rang in 2008 with Dick, Ryan and all those other people in the Big Apple. While we were waiting for the ball to drop, before the one minute countdown, we kept switching back to Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Nothing like a little post nuclear holocaust to foreshadow the new year.
It's been such a great holiday season--I'm not ready to return to normal doings, are you? It's still Christmas in my house, at least until this weekend's over, anyway. Then I'll take off my hat.
I LOVE the Planet of the Apes movies!!! I watched them yesterday also...grin...
I gathered up all the Christmas things this past weekend...It was sad, for some reason, I wasn't ready for the holiday season to be over.
I have to go back to work tomorrow...sigh...but I'm looking forward to 2008 being a year of health, happiness and success...Hugs..
Nope! Christmas stays up until way into next week (or later depending upon how lazy I am!!)
Thank goodness I have sometime before school starts up for me and I am so grateful that school starts up for the kids tomorrow!

Sometimes I keep the tree up so long, I may as well just leave it up until the following Christmas. You're right, it's hard to get the kinks out and go back to work.

When my mom came in the summer/fall, she asked me why a stocking was up in my kitchen. I had never taken it down, and I no longer "saw" it.
I really do hate returning to the routine.
Last year, we made it almost all the way to Valentine's Day before we took down the Christmas tree. I told myself that Orthodox Christmas being in mid-January, it didn't really matter... I wonder what excuse we will use this year?
I'm amazed that there are actually people who put their trees up as early as December 1, then take them down right after Christmas. We are obviously the extreme opposite: we put our tree up just before Christmas and then cannot be bothered to dismantle it for weeks.
