You see, he loves epic fantasy and that's the one genre I don't really read (well, adult epic fantasy). Here are his rules:
-Swords and Sorcery
-Dragons a plus
-No Guns (although I made him read an article from Brandon Sanderson about his new book with guns and I'm hoping that changes his mind ;)
-Prefer male main characters, but open to some female main characters
-Would like it to be a series that is still being written that has some following and reviews
-Intelligible names-(if he has to look up a pronunciation, chances are he won't read it)
-Complex characters and plot
-No D&D World-he's read many of them

He's enjoyed Harry Potter, Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, and Riftwar Saga by Raymond Fiest, The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss.
(He's trying Robert Jordan but says the characters are too simple)
So I'm turning to you, dear blog readers. Will you help me find a book for Mr. GreenBeanSexyMan to read? He's open to adult and some YA.
And dear readers, will you PLEASE help me convince him that if he doesn't like a book he can put it down?? :)

My hubby loved "The Gilded Chain" by Dave Ducan (and it's sequels.) It's older, so it may be a little hard to find, but my guy ate it up! And the "Assassin's Apprentice" by Robin Hobb starts off a wonderful fantasy series as well.
Has he tried the Ranger's Apprentice series? One of my very favorites.
Definitely The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima. It seriously fits every criteria. The final book in the series comes out next year.

Did he read The Dragonbone Chair (book one of his series) by Tad Williams? If not, he should run to Tad Williams! Kristen Britain has a good epic fantasy series with a female character. And I second the Robin Hobb pub!
Would he like Here There Be Dragons by James A. Owen? The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica is an excellent series. =)
I'm going to third The Demon King (and the whole Seven Realms series) by Cinda Williams Chima. Effing phenomenal with one more book to go in the series. Alternating male/female POVs. The Heir Chronicles, also by Cinda, has a strictly male POV but I haven't read that one yet (although it's in the pile). I'm sure it's just as amazing and it's also a series and as far as I know I don't think it's finished. I could be wrong, though.
What about the last Orson Scott Card book Pathfinder? Or maybe the Graceling books (there is only one left though so that might not fit your series criteria
He might like Eon (and then possibly the sequel Eona) by Alison Goodman!
Another thumbs up for Robin Hobb's Farseer and Tawny Man trilogies!
This doesn't fit all the criteria (I think it has guns - it's set in an alternate Napoleonic War with dragons), but has he read the Temeraire books by Naomi Novik? I read the first couple and quite liked them and there are six now (she's working on a seventh). The first book is His Majesty's Dragon. :)
What about the T.A. Barron's Merlin books?
back with another, had to go look it up cause no matter how many times I walked the shelves in my head I could not remember it...sigh. anyhow, this comes highly recommended, have not read myself though. Donita K. Paul's Dragonkeepers Chronicles. Not still be written but...
No advice on †he put the book down, other than I finally had to start doing it, lol. So many books out there and I'd rather spent the focus and time on a book I want to finish--not reviewing it, not book talking it so I figure...put. it. down. Deb!
