Sometimes, when you’re broken, you can heal on your own. Sometimes, you need the help of your friends, your family, and the people you love. Keeping those pieces together when the world seems intent on ripping you apart is the greatest challenge of all. Especially when the ones you love, the ones who hold you together, start falling apart themselves.
Arowyn and her family continue on their journey to return the Elven Prince, Shael, to his homeland before he fades and dies. A journey full of triumph and horror, love and sorrow, rips them apart with every fighting moment, and yet brings them together as a family. They don’t allow the prophecy to rule their lives. Some don’t believe, some don’t care. Prophecies aren’t written in stone. Events can change. People can change. They are only words. 5. Writing, new releases and coming soon-Crazy October!

Somehow, the summer has disappeared and fall is in full swing. Have the kids really been in school a month already? I rather dislike how times seems to by flying by so quickly these last few years.

So… lots and lots of stuff is new! I’ll try not to ramble too much :) I’ve been super, crazy, insanely, sleeplessly, stressfully busy. Thanks to lots of chocolate etc and the occasional ‘crash day’ I’m still going strong… and still busy.

First off… In case you missed it I have a new book out! Whoo hoo! Broken Aro is the first in a young adult epic fantasy series (The Broken Ones). It is a full novel (abt 70k words) and is available at amazon (ebook) and amazon, BN, createspace (print). Happily it’s been getting fantastic reviews so far and I’m plugging along at the next book, Broken Prince, hoping to have it out early in the new year. Please check it out! (If you want to review, feature or otherwise spread the word please feel free to drop me a note)

Broken Aro by Jen Wylie

Book One of The Broken Ones Series

Young Adult Fantasy novel

Published: Sept 15 2012

2.99 Available at [Amazon] Available in Print for 12.99 at [Amazon][Createspace][Barnes and Noble]

Open your eyes to darkness. What do you see? Does the darkness frighten you? Now imagine the darkness being the cargo hold of a slave ship. Your city has fallen. Your family is most likely dead. You don’t know anyone around you, and some of them aren’t even human. Giving up would be so easy to do, but not for Arowyn Mason. Not after being raised in a military family with seven brothers. Every great story should begin with a plan. Aro’s was to escape and to survive.

Escape comes, but at a price. As they reach the shore, Aro and the other survivors learn that freedom doesn’t mean safety. The slavers want their property back and will do anything to get it. The party uses every ounce of their brute strength, a hearty helping of cunning, and even ancient magics to keep themselves alive. Sickness, danger, and even love surprise them at every turn. Dealing with danger becomes their way of life, but none of them ever considered that nothing can be quite as dangerous as a prophecy. Running turns into another race altogether as her world falls to pieces again and again.

On to the next thing new… Sean and I have a second volume of Flashy Fiction and Other Insane Tales coming out in a few weeks! We had so much fun writing the first one (and it was so well received too) we jumped into a second right away.  Personally I think this one is even better than the first. My very first, and possibly only, psychological horror is included! I’m a scaredy cat to begin with-but just editing it freaked me out LOL. I hope you’ll all give it a read too! The release date for it is set for Oct. 23. Check out the awesome cover! It’s the other side of the spooky face!

Just to keep me even busier, Sean and I are gearing up for the World Fantasy Convention in Toronto Nov 1-4. We’re super excited to be going and having the opportunity to meet so many great authors that will be attending! I keep falling into ‘fangirl’ mode just thinking about it, which is probably good that I get that over with now…maybe I can act normal when I’m actually there. We’ll be in the Dealer Room selling our all of our books in print at the Untold Press table. If you’re attending be sure to stop by and say hello!

As always, lots of hugs and rainbows to you all! Your continued support and friendship are greatly appreciated and mean so much to me. Hugs hugs!

6. Have you discovered the land of Ever?

Hi Everyone!

I blog about a lot of different things, but I realized I haven’t on my own writing too much lately. I thought I’d see if you’ve all checked out my young adult short story series, Tales of Ever.

This is a special project close to my heart. The series is geared toward getting people reading and so is written with a lot of action and is very fast paced to keep the reader hooked.

Though it is young adult and written for teens ages 12 and up, it has a number of adult loyal fans too!

So what’s it about you ask? The six part series features Misha, a teenage girl who is shy and not very social or popular. She learns she is a firestarter, like her mother and her father who mysteriously disappeared when she was six. Her life goes from sucky to horrible and through various circumstances she becomes banished to the mystical land of Ever. The stories follow her as she meets new friends and searches for her father while learning to use her powers to survive the magical, and deadly, prison she can never escape.

Stories 1-4 are now available in all eBook formats for 0.99 each. 5 & 6 will be coming soon!
These links will take you to my author page with book list on each site.

OmniLit or Smashwords for multiple download formats.
Amazon and Amazon UK and Amazon DE for Kindle
Barnes &Noble for Nook and iBooks (iTunes)

You can see my Tales of Ever page on my website for more information on the series and each story too! CLICK HERE

Want to try the series out? Comment here and a winner will be chosen to receive a free eBook of Tales of Ever #1 Banished! Open to everyone! One entry per person. Please leave your email or twitter id so I can contact you if you win!

When fate conspires against you and gives you three loves to choose from, what do you do? What if you make the wrong choice?

Shara is a Healer, raised and trained from childhood until her unique gift manifests itself. When she gains the rank Journeyman she is hired to serve as the court healer for the barbaric kingdom of Glendor.

Untrained for war, she is thrust unmercifully into its bloody arms when the kingdom is invaded. Ordered by her king to the front lines to tend the wounded, she is forced to flee when their camp is attacked. Happening upon a wounded soldier in the forest, every mile back to the capital is a struggle, and breaking the Healer’s code, she falls in love with her charge.

If Shara thought that to be the least of her troubles, the appearance of a fierce warrior captain who appoints himself her protector, teaches her differently. Trouble comes in threes at the appearance of a former love and fellow healer. Faced with decisions of the heart and the sudden manifestation of her gift, there is little room for anything else to go wrong. Or at least that’s what Shara thought.

8. New Release! My newest YA short story!

I’ve not been around much lately, I’ve been a very busy bee! On top of working on Broken Aro edits, I’m having a great month of new releases! Out today is another new short story. This is a young adult fantasy, great for all ages about a young boy who loves music and playing his flute…it is a new take on what the children’s song Ring Around the Rosie could actually be about.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support! Please click on the link! Fb likes & shares, tweets and mentions anywhere are always appreciated! If you have a blog I’m happy to stop by :) I hope you enjoy my newest tale!

Ring Around the Rosie by Jen Wylie

An Untold Press eShort

Published Feb 2012 Price: 0.99 Available at Amazon

Aaron is a normal boy fascinated with music. He loves playing his flute so much he doesn’t even mind lessons over summer break. When he meets a strange boy at the park who seems to be just as obsessed they spend summer days entertaining children in the parks woods. But friends often have secrets, music can be magical, and even the most innocent of children’s games can be more than they appear.

“Weaving the magical into the mundane, making you rethink what you already know, and mesmerizing you from start to finish. Only three of the reasons why I love Jen Wylie’s stories.” – Sean Hayden, Author of the Demonkin Series.

“A chilling tale of friendship, music and magic.” – J.A. Campbell, Author of Doc, Vampire-Hunting Dog.

“Chilling, thrilling and pitch perfect, will you take Jennifer Wylie’s hand and be led into a supernatural game? It’s not all child’s-play in ‘Ring Around the Rosie’.” – Katy O’Dowd, Author of The Lady Astronomer.

9. Sneak Peek at my next release! Do I hear an echo??

Hello my sweeties!

As always I’ve been a very busy bee. February saw the release of the final installment of my Tales of Ever series, Sanctuary. Also released was my new YA children’s fantasy short story, Ring Around the Rosie. Both have been received very well! (thank you!!)

I’m still working away at edits for Broken Aro, and Dark Madness, and a new anthology of flash fiction too. (Whew!)

March will hopefully see a few more releases. I just got the cover for the next. For those of you who enjoyed The Forgotten Echo, The Untouchable Echo is set in the same world (Immortal Echoes), just with some new characters. I hope you will all enjoy it just as much. For now, here is a sneak peek at the cover. More about to come soon!

11. 2012 Printers Row Lit Fest was a blast!

Okay, I know I’m rather delayed in posting about this… but at least I did get around to it!

This year I headed off to Chicago, IL again to attended my 2nd year at the Printers Row Lit Fest. Last year I had a blast, met a lot of wonderful people and sold a bunch of books. This year didn’t disappoint either!

Let’s start at the beginning.

I flew into O’Hare Thursday evening (June 7th). Last year was great, but I didn’t get to see any of Chicago and was determined to fix that this year! My sweetie Sean Hayden was kind enough to pick me up (for those who didn’t know, we met for the first time at PR last year!)

Chicago!

We found our hotel, which I found using Expedia and got for an awesome 32$ a night. It was the Extended Stay American Chicago in Hillside. Considering the price, I was beyond relieved to find out it was not only easy to get to, but in excellent condition. Though not at all fancy (and no maid service though you could exchange sheets and towels at the front desk) it was VERY clean, the room was huge with a full kitchenette and everything worked. I would certainly stay there again.

On Friday we toured Chicago a bit, and visited the most awesome Navy Pier. It was a hot day, but we had a load of fun watching the boats, touring the shops and eating funnel cakes!  We had dinner at the famous Bubba Gumps. Which was pretty neat, though I found my memories of the details in the movie Forrest Gump weren’t so great.

Saturday was the big first day of Printers Row! Which meant getting up at like 5am to have everything ready and loaded. Luckily traffic was awesome and we got to the site early and were able to drive in to unload. Everyone else started arriving and it was a flurry of hellos and set up. The weather was hot but otherwise fantastic. The crowd didn’t seem to be as big as last year, but they were buying! A lot of people stopped to chat, browse (and buy) books and get autographs. Luckily we had a cooler full of ice to keep us from melting in the heat. By 6pm we were closing up (and btw, yes that is a verrrrry long day) and packing our stuff into the center of the tent. We all had dinner across the street where we ate and chatted for a few hours and then I think we all went back to hotels for some sleep.

Sunday we were there early again, set everything up again, and kept on selling! Flashy Fiction and Other Insane Tales did absolutely fantastic! (Of course it does have a really cool cover Add a Comment

12. Ring Around the Rosie currently FREE!

To celebrate the summer my short tale about a musical boy and magic is currently free at Smashwords and on iTunes.

Amazon is still waiting to catch up, but hopefully it will show free there soon too.

Please enjoy!

4.6/5 stars from 10 reviews on Amazon
This is a Short Story!
Ring Around the Rosie, a centuries old children’s song known by all. We all remember the song and dance, people telling us it was about the Great Plague…but what if the song was really a warning for something else?

Aaron is a normal boy fascinated with music. He loves playing his flute so much he doesn’t even mind lessons over summer break. When he meets a strange boy at the park who seems to be just as obsessed they spend summer days entertaining children in the parks woods. But friends often have secrets, music can be magical, and even the most innocent of children’s games can be more than they appear.

This story contains NO violence, foul language or sex.

13. New Release: Broken Aro- a YA epic fantasy

What a wonderful and busy last few days! I’m so excited to announce my newest release. Of course wordpress was being difficult and not letting me sign in, so this post is a few days delays. ~grumble~

Getting Broken Aro finally out is such a great pleasure (and relief). It’s a while in coming, with some ups and downs and too many edits to count. Finally it is here and has a kick butt cover to boot. I couldn’t be happier!

Broken Aro is the first in a new series, The Broken Ones. It is a YA epic fantasy and was a great book to write. I hope you all enjoy the story and characters as much as I do. My current goal is to have the second book, Broken Prince, written by Christmas and published in the beginning of 2013.

If you pick up a copy do drop me a note and let me know what you thought!
