I'm still reading GOING BOVINE, by Libba Bray. I cannot tell you guys how much I am loving this book. But it's taking me so long to read only because I'm savoring every single bit of it. Plus, honestly real life is kinda taking a place in my life and I'm not liking it at all.
I know that other blogs have great contests going on. But when I would have a contest, I was told that I wasn't doing anything else. I'm not exactly sure WHAT I should do lately. I didn't realize that running a blog would become a popularity contest. I just wanted to run a blog that was contest and got people thinking about what they read.
I've tried to engage you in conversation. So go ahead... Converse. Tell me what you like in a book.

After attempting what *should* have been just an extremely minor update, my web site is now doing some very horrific things. I am trying to figure out what the problem is but it will have to wait a bit because I've been at this for hours and now I have to give it up for the night and go to bed.
Please do not look at my newly redesigned (ACK!) site right now unless you would like to see the graphical equivalent of scrambled eggs. (mixed with mashed peas. Some seaweed in there. maybe a few chicklets. and definitely some green slime.) Don't say I didn't warn you.
I'll have it up as soon as I am able! I will get it fixed as soon as I can. For what it's worth, I know what the GENERAL problem is -- it's a technical glitch in the software application that reacts wildly to *something*, but I. don't. know. what. (I realize that I'm being incredibly clear here.)
I just am not sure how to remedy it.
Please bear with!! (for now!)

Obviously there are things one must not joke about. I am beginning to suspect that the Internet is watching us, and its feelings are easily hurt.
...
Small parental moment of proud happiness -- my son Mike, having obtained his Masters in, er, computery stuff, had to decide whether to accept a job offer from an unidentified computer company named after a fruit or a job offer from an equally unidentified search engine company named after a lot. Both were things he wanted to do. He made his decision, and will now be joining the ranks of the employed.
(I would have been happy with either choice, but was delighted with the one he chose, because I've been there to talk and sign books, and, frankly, the food's terrific.)
(The sharp-eyed among you might find a clue to his decision in this recent photograph.)

We've gone over to the new version of Blogger, as of the last post. That's why we now have these odd little labels.
There's a small amount of fiddling going on behind the scenes, and as those with long memories may already know, sometimes LiveJournal and Blogger do not play well with each other. So if your inbox just got a month's worth of old blog posts reappearing in it, we're incredibly sorry. (The industrious web elf says that anyone who feels they need a personal apology can write to her at [email protected] and she will cheerfully abase herself.)
Ugggh, I feel your pain. I hope you resolve it soon!
Thanks Gina. Me too!!! Will try a million things tonight, and keep my fingers crossed.
The seaweed and chiclets thing made me snort Sprite up my nose from laughing so hard, Kathy. Shame on you! :)
Angie, I am glad something good has come out of this.. but I hope you didn't hurt yourself.
;)
