Hers is truly a story for the ages. It’s stuck with me for ten years of my life, and for some people it’s taken them even farther. There are many stories that do that. I appreciate what you’ve said here and how you’ve put what I’ve recognized in Rowling into words. I’m glad you liked the movie! I was spellbound and sobbing and laughing. It was truly fitting. I am grateful to all writers for the worlds and people they make so real to us! I literally don’t know what I’d do without all of you.

Kelley, I agree with you about the movie–sobbing and laughing, yes! (Not at the same time, of course.) And I agree with you totally about being grateful to writers like her who builds these worlds and these characters for us to enjoy. It sounds schmaltzy, but I really do feel like she has enriched my life this past decade! I’m happy for every success she has. She totally deserves it.

Dude! You do the 48-hour challenges too? You are a rock star. We did one a few years ago (also horror) and had a total blast. Ours had a three minute limit though. Seven minutes over a weekend is an eternity. So cool!

I’m sitting at home alone and I’m a little freaked out. Super job on the film.

F - Oh, that’s so true, but I’m trying to be optimistic. There are some books I can’t picture as TV shows (and, I have to admit, Gossip Girl was one of them… not that I watch it), but this one, I can.

Sheryl - Good question. Maybe play up the Elena/Stefan/Matt love triangle? Elena/Stefan/Damon? More screen time for Bonnie and her psychic abilities? And Meredith and Alaric? Forget about the last two books for a while and focus on trying to keep the fact that Stefan’s a vampire a secret?

Okay, maybe I should stop guessing, because it’ll probably just lead to disappointment, and let myself be surprised.

As I wrote on my blog, I’m an idiot when it comes to time travel. It completely boggles my mind. Theories abound after what we saw last night, though! Let me just say I’m glad we still have a certain someone.

It’s good that there’s a show like that to challenge us. I’m all for mindless entertainment every now and then, but I much prefer letting my brain get a workout.

Robin: Have you seen “Donnie Darko?” There’s a film that can hurt your brain (in a good way) with thinking about time-travel.

I just watched the episode. Oh my goodness, a story that actually ends on a hopeful note. Is it possible that the futures we’re watching are not actually fixed? That’s my guess for now.

I’m actually a bit tired of being confused, but well then THAT ENDING! I was in tears.

It doesn’t hurt that Desmond is devastatingly HOT (the long-haired version of him).

I still, though, can’t get over how long it took Penelope to get to the phone already. He gives her this cryptic message eight years ago, and it seems as if she was all expectant about the call. But it took her, like, eight rings to get to it. I know it’s for dramatic effect so that we could hear that lovely “Lost” piano music, but what, was she decorating cookies and then was all, ‘Oh yeah, Desmond’s supposed to call from the future. Let me get that’?

But all that was trumped by the lovely, moving ending. This romance better NOT have a tragic ending.

Alkelda, I have seen Donnie Darko, and you’re right–ow. I agree about Desmond. I especially like his accent. I’m a sucker for UK, Australian, and New Zealand accents.

Jules, I thought the same thing about Penny coming to the phone! Dude, if she’s really been looking for him so frantically all these years, pick up the phone! She’s just decorating away, la la la. But I forgive her because that phone call was so sweet. I agree it’s nice to have a hopeful ending. I also agree that I’m not into that romance having a tragic ending–not after everything we’ve been through.

But I just loved that episode all the way through. Loved it each time he kept switching back to the other life. So unpredictable and exciting. And the whole interaction with Daniel the Mad Scientist–too cool.

Yes, I know what he did. It’s just wrong. It feels wrong and it reeks of “reboundness.” Ick.

But lots of great info, and for once I feel that I can finally, maybe, perhaps trust someone whose motives I’ve questioned for a long time.

The truth about the island’s magic is revealed:

Er, that should read:

“It wants MEN want Elizabeth Mitchell.”

I, personally, have never been to the island.

Yes, Jules, GRRRR. That kiss was horrible–and not just because he totally betrayed Kate. It was just a bad kiss, period.

Now that we’re using names, I totally think Jack and Juliet have NO chemistry. They are completely wrong for each other. But even so, Juliet needed a bit of redemption. She’s such a cold person, isn’t she? But now I kinda feel like I know why. I would never condone an affair like the one she had, but she clearly needed an anchor when she got to that island, and she found him. The most chilling scene I’ve probably witnessed yet with this show was when Ben showed her the body and then said, “You’re mine.” The look on his face–chilling.

I don’t know from Jack, but we HATE that commercial! The whole series! How can they believe that junk sells anything???

I’ve finally got caught up with you all. I like Juliet. She’s an Other, but I still like her, and I think what passes for coldness is actually extreme introvertedness. She’s quite warm when she’s around people with whom she’s comfortable.

Alkelda, I like her better than I did last year, but still–keep your hands off Jack! He’s totally spoken for! Go moon over Sayid or someone else.

Mary Lee, high five about the commercial. I’ve seen it in print, too–what are they thinking?

Kelley, I agree: NO chemistry. Totally forced for plot’s sake. And yeah, that “You’re mine” moment was chilling indeed. The actor playing Ben is SO good at being who he is.

I saw this in 3-D and it’s the only way to see this movie! Simply awesome!
