A place far away, where my mystery takes place. I hope my book will end up on one of these shelves. |
Dear Blog Friends,
I will be taking a posting break on this Fourth Wish blog
during April and the first part of May. A health problem (which looks like it will be resolved soon) took up a lot of my time with medical appointments during the past few weeks. I got way behind in my cozy mystery re-write, and I need to make that a priority now.
My Victorian Scribbles blog is connected to my other writing venture and the anthology coming out in June, so I'll be posting next door on
Victorian Scribbles. I just can't manage two blogs while finishing the cozy mystery.
I should be back here by mid-to-late May, so please return then. And please pop in next door at Victorian Scribbles for updates.
Thanks for your understanding.

Lemsip powders, Lemsip cough medicine, lemon Lockets - it's a good job lemon is one of my favourite flavours.
For the first time since starting this blog, four years ago, I am taking what I believe is called a *blog break* - just a small one, so I have one thing less to worry about. Finding myself ill for the second time this month, I am really and truly going to bugger off (quaint Anglo-Saxon expression for my American readers) and rest - as everyone from Andy to friends to my lovely clients have advised. And as up till now I have tried to ignore. Apart from working on things-I-can't-reveal, coughing and snuffling, there is nothing to write about. I'm just too wiped out to try to do everything as I usually do, not even write a halfway entertaining blogpost; so you aren't missing anything except monstrous amounts of sickly self pity.
Cough.
Merry Christmas and a peaceful and inspired New Year to you all.
I'll be on a blog break for awhile.
My second round of revisions has arrived and I must step out of the room. I don't know if I'll be gone days or weeks. I may drop in and out unexpectedly.
Please entertain yourself with either (or both) of the following. I'm told that these feats take several days to master.
Task #1: Open a champagne bottle with a sword.
Task #2: Take a square of paper, as below...
and make this:
More exquisite origami by Brian Chan hereAlternatively, you may simply sit in your chairs and stare out the window. That often leads to writing, which leads to revising, in which case, I'm
happy thrilled excited for you I'm sorry...it's happening...I must go now...

1. Jessica Alba had lots to do as the only woman in the film. Like... whinge about how her wedding keeps getting interrupted by having to save the world. And not quite be able to hold up the London Eye (resulting in a nosebleed). And... be sensitive and the catalyst for the Silver Surfer not to kill them all because she reminds him of his shiny silver girlfriend back home. Oh, and die.
2. The villain was awesomely cool. I mean, what could be cooler than the shiny silver guy from Terminator 2, with Laurence Fishburne's voice (sounding a lot like Legion from Red Dwarf for all the geeks out there). ON A MAGIC SURFBOARD. (oh, except he's not actually the villain. The villain is really The Nothing from the Neverending Story.)
3. The bit at the end where Ioan Gruffudd (Hornblower! What happened to you!? You went all blah!!) looks around at downtown Shanghai, looks at poor eat-a-burger Jessica Alba and says "This gives me an idea". Cut to... them getting married... in Japan.
4. Julian McMahon's success-fat.
HI guys! I'm going to be missing out on some IF Illo's this June - I'm just getting ready to move to a new home and it's going to be a little hectic this month. I'll probably post some drawings and visit blogs from time to time, but will not be able to draw for IF for a while. So, til then — have a great summer and see you guys in July!
I need a muse :) Happy holidays
