Adele Griffin's newest book is The Unfinished Life of Addison Stone (Soho Press, 2014).
I had the privilege of interviewing Griffin, and writing up a little something about the book and how it was created, for School Library Journal.
You can go read my article at The Story Behind Adele Griffin's Hybrid Novel, 'The Unfinished Life of Addison Stone'.
I promise to write up more of my thoughts on Addison Stone here -- the short version? Loved it. This is the type of creative, inventive story telling I love, and Addison herself is a fascinating young women. Love her or hate her, you'll remember her.

THE WARLOCK: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel
By Michael Scott
The fifth book in Michael Scott’s riveting six-part New York Times bestselling series, which has introduced readers to legendary historical and mythological figures—weaving history, mystery, and magic together seamlessly. Before penning the first novel, The Alchemyst (2007), Michael Scott devoted nearly a decade researching this series—and it shows. In THE WARLOCK, the twins of prophesy—Sophie and Josh—have been separated, and as the end of the series nears, the action-packed plot is more intense and absorbing than ever. With Scatty, Joan of Arc, Saint Germain, Palamedes, and Shakespeare all in Danu Talis, Sophie is on her own with the ever-weakening Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel. She must depend on Niten to help her find an immortal to teach her Earth Magic. Much to the surprise of readers, she will find her teacher in the most ordinary of places.

Kate: What do you think is your best personality/physical trait? Worst?
Adele: Well, worst is EASY—I am a chicken. Or, if I am going to be nicer
about it, I am brave-in-progress. It’s hard to coax myself into taking
risks, though it’s always rewarding. Best trait? It might go along with
chicken—I am a total crybaby. I find at least ten teary moments a day.
But I’m calling it a best trait because I try to celebrate it, even though
my brothers make fun of me.
Kate: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Adele: I bet I will be living somewhere outside the U.S. Or else my
husband and I are the biggest all-talk, no-action blowhards I ever met.
Kate: Who is your current TV crush?
Adele: Peter Dinklage’s character Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones.
Every moment, every line is a thrill.
Kate: If you could be any supernatural character what would you be and
why?
Adele: Quick answer: I wish I could eat dark chocolate to save the world.
Real answer: Supernatural-wise, even the most modest abilities
would be rewarding. Bending forks with your eyes, for example.
You couldn’t hurt anyone with that, or even defend yourself, or save
anything. But still. Bending Forks With Your Eyes. You’d own the
party every night.
Kate: What is your favorite book?
Adele: The Turn of the Screw. I first read it in high school and I didn’t really
get it, but I sensed that Henry James could bend forks with his words.
From Goodreads. When 17-year-old Jamie arrives on the idyllic New England island of Little Bly to work as a summer au pair, she is stunned to learn of the horror that precedes her. Seeking the truth surrounding a young couple's tragic deaths, Jamie discovers that she herself looks shockingly like the dead girl—and that she has a disturbing ability to sense the two ghosts. Why is Jamie's connection to the couple so intense? What really happened last summer at Little Bly? As the secrets of the house wrap tighter and tighter around her, Jamie must navigate the increasingly blurred divide between the worlds of the living and the dead.
