1. Defining biodiversity genomics

Many say now is the century of biology, the study of life. Genomics is therefore “front-and-centre”, as DNA, is the software of life. From staring at stars, we are now staring at DNA. We can’t use our eyes, like we do in star gazing, but just as telescopes show us the far reaches of the Universe, DNA sequencing machines are reading out our genomes at an astonishing pace.

When you purchase an item from MY STORE, 10% of your purchase price will be donated to my favorite animal charities; Last Chance Animal Rescue and Horses Haven, both in lower MI. Which charity the donation goes to, will depend on the item purchased and I will love you forever from the bottom of my little black heart. ...and even if you don't purchase anything from me, you can go to their site and make a donation! These animals deserve a chance!

Have a seat in the sun with a sippy and browse through the pages of my website ArtQwerks

3. ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ STAR GAZING

Once upon a time we lived near a hill that gave us a wonderful view of the night sky.  We had only to walk out the door and a few steps then up the hillside.  With our telescope we could spend hours searching the night sky for our favorite constellations.  The most brilliant stars would take our breath away. Even in the colder winter months we were drawn to that hillside.

4. Illustration Friday ~ Star Gazing

When Oliver invited Ophelia to go star gazing, this wasn’t exactly what he had in mind.
However, when he looked into those eyes of glistening gold and moved forward to nuzzle her sharp, dark beak… he fell off the limb and bounced not once but twice on his feathered owl noggin. Ophelia thought nothing of it. To her Olly, as she liked to call him, held the key to her fine feathered heart!

Olly and Ophelia sitting in a tree.
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
First comes love,
Then comes marriage.
Then comes an owlet in a golden carriage!

Here’s a quickie…. I can’t seem to put down my sketchbook for sketchbook project 2011.
