Warner Brothers has released the trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the middle of Peter Jackson‘s trilogy adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien‘s famous fantasy novel.
The movie comes out December 13th. Star Orlando Bloom appeared on the Today show, talking about his role:
Bloom explained that despite starring in the films, he initially had no idea what his finished scenes would look like since he’s often filmed “hanging upside-down with wires on a green screen.” He said he spent “hours flailing around, stabbing at things in the air” and then when he finally saw the film discovered that “it looks better than I thought!”

The supporting cast includes Sideways actor Paul Giamatti as the gentle Friar Lawrence and Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick as the hot-tempered Tybalt.

Lord of the Rings actor Orlando Bloom (pictured, via) has landed the role of Romeo Montague in a Broadway revival of Romeo & Juliet. Previews will begin on August 24th and opening night will take place on September 19th.
Tony Award-nominated actress Condola Rashad will portray Juliet Capulet. This particular production will feature William Shakespeare‘s infamous starcrossed lovers as an interracial couple.
In an interview with the New York Times, director David Leveaux explained this casting decision: “I’m not about to turn a contemporary version of Shakespeare into a sociological or political point. We know there are families from one background or another who would reject their children getting together with someone from another group. Romeo and Juliet reject that notion.”

A 3D film adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers will hit theaters in October 14th. The official trailer is embedded above–what do you think?
The film stars Percy Jackson actor Logan Lerman as a young D’Artagnan. Other cast members include Christoph Waltz, Orlando Bloom, and Milla Jovovich.
Last year at Comic-Con 2010, MovieWeb caught up with director Paul W.S. Anderson who promised fans, “We’re being relatively faithful to the book…we’re telling it in a very modern way but it is the classic [Dumas] story.”

Yay! I won a book! Thanks, Tina. And I finished my taxes - What a week!
The Orlando Bloom "hairstyle" made me ask a question not suitable for this forum. So instead I'll ask what was he thinking and why would anyone give him an award for it? Who are these people? Maybe he had a ponytail and it unexpectedly got unruly. I mean I always want to give him the benefit of the doubt...
Don't tell Janette that you have a picture of Orlando Bloom on your blog, or you'll end up with 10,000 page views! ;)
Paddy, clearly this is your week! =)
And yeah, I think I know the "not suitable" question you are thinking of...
Chuck, didn't know Janette had a thing for Orlando! I'd love her to drop by again and again...and maybe she can explain his Excellent hair?
I like him better with shorter hair!
Now I'll never be able to post a picture with my comments - I have the same hair!
I love guys with longer hair (my DH had hair longer than mine when we were first married) but that particular photo doesn't do Orlando justice.
I have a thing for guys with long hair too...but um, I like the Legolas look better on Orlando :))
It's a horrible hair style!! It is reminiscent of a girl's messy ponytail post run. Definitely what NOT to wear!
Taylor Kitsch and Josh Holloway pull off that longish hair much better than Orlando Bloom!
I agree with MD. Taylor looks better, although Orly did look good in those Pirate movies.
