1. “Free Birds” Trailer

It’s been a week of animated film trailers and teasers. This afternoon, we see the release of the Free Birds trailer, which is the first feature film produced by Reel FX, a studio known for animating the well received CGI Looney Tunes shorts. Free Birds is directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!) and will be released by Relativity Media in the U.S. on November 1st.

2. Mirror Mirror Giveaway - Movie Prize Pack including book and Fandango Gift Card

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Are you ready for the newest retelling of the Snow White fairy tale? The aptly titled live-action movie, Mirror Mirror hits the big screen tomorrow (March 30). Starring Julia Roberts as the evil Queen and Lily Collins as Snow White, from the early reviews this kid-friendly version sounds like it's going to be a fun if not a bit quirky film to watch! Other cast members apparently add to the humor including Armie Hammer as the dashing prince and Nathan Lane as the queen's bungling servant. The film, released by Relativity Media, promises CGI special effects, lavish costuming, spunky girl power and a Bollywood-inspired dance sequence ending.

Find out more about the movie and characters, watch trailers, download a coloring book and more at the official website: http://www.mirrormirrorfilm.com.

For those that want to gauge whether it's age-appropriate, The Dove Foundation has approved the film as family friendly and provides a review of Mirror Mirror, including a detailed content description.

It's been too long since my daughter and I have gone on a mother/daughter outing. I think perhaps we'll take an afternoon together and check out this enchanted, princess-y fare. I admit part of the reason I'd like to see this one is because I'm curious to see if Julia Roberts can successfully play a mean-hearted queen. Snow White also happens to be one of my favorite fairy tales.

In celebration of the release, Relativity Media has kindly offered to give away a Mirror Mirror prize pack to a Brimful Curiosities reader. One (1) winner will receive:

4. Three Snow White Movies in the Works

Beginning in 2012, three different adaptations of Snow White will hit theaters: The Brothers Grimm: Snow White (2012), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), and Snow and the Seven (2013).

According to The Film Stage, the first will have a “darkly comedic flare;” the second will focus on the Huntsman character, and the final film will feature martial arts action (The video embedded above shows a musical scene from the 1937 Disney version).

Casting rumors have emerged about two of the projects. Julia Roberts may appear in The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.
