for sure!

this little treasury is everything. anyone who curates a treasury based on Tori Amos songs, well that's someone i just instantly have to show some love for! and, including MY tribute painting to Tori? happy...and humbled. :)

this painting form last year, entitled "ribbons undone" (named after the Tori song of the same name, of course) is one of my favorites. visit my etsy shop to purchase a print of her or a cute little compact mirror (only ONE left...) . also, over at fine art america, you can purchase this piece on a multitude of awesome products....from tote bags to duvet covers.

and, just because we are talking about Tori here, well here's the inspiration for this piece....:)

7. a peek at this sweet face....

©the enchanted easel 2014
on the easel this week!

i am currently working on a little scarlet haired beauty who i have fallen madly in love with. must be the red hair...or that's it's my ode to my favorite musical maven, the gorgeous and wickedly talented, ms. tori amos. i have MAD LOVE for this woman. always have. always will.
http://instagram.com/toriamos
is it the red hair? the fellow piano player? the fact that we're both leos? it's all of the above and so much more! just adore her! *enter plug for the new cd, "unrepentant geraldines"*...http://toriamos.com/go/music/#. this wins my top spot for favorite tori cd. seriously. this replaces my beloved "scarlet's walk". but, not by much. ok, let me stop because i could go on and on and on about her and her music. speaking of....

the song, "ribbons undone" (written for her daughter and located on the 2005 release, "the beekeeper") was the inspiration for the painting on the easel this week. such a sweet song...

{p.s. and btw, you can't be a leo and NOT be awesome...and we should know ;)}

11. IF ~ Undone

These two have a love for the holidays and for each other that cannot be undone.

OH OK!!!!! I've been away for a week or so, so I'm playing catch up by posting fairly early (for me anyway) for the current Illustration Friday. I'm somewhat discombobulated with the time, as I'm sure we ALL are during this hectic holiday season, so instead of using this illustration that was supposed to be for Entangled two weeks ago (or last week, or whenever it was), I'm now using it for Undone THIS week. It works if you hold your head right. I'll just consider this a Christmas present to myself because there's so much to do, what with all the holiday busy-ness between now and next week.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

When you purchase an item from

ArtQwerks Store (I know of a great book that would make an awesome present for some adorable someone on your list), 10% of your purchase price will be donated to my favorite animal charities; Last Chance Animal Rescue and Horses Haven, both in lower MI. Which charity the donation goes to, will depend on the item purchased and I will love you forever from the bottom of my little black heart. They deserve a chance too.

Grab a cup of coffee and take a long luxurious gander at my website

15. in conjunction with The Jewish Museum exhibition, From The New Yorker to Shrek: The Art of William Steig on view through March 16, 2008.

On Monday, March 3rd at 7 PM, at The Jewish Museum there will be a panel discussion entitled, Shrek: From Book to Film to Broadway.

(I saw the movie version of Persepolis last week. It was so nice and 3-D, but faithful to the graphic look of the book. Why didn't they do that with the Shrek movies? Well I know why. But still...)

19. Video Sunday - Authors in their Natural Habitat

Well, that was the original intention, anyway. I was going to find a series of interesting links involving authors and their daily lives. For example, here is the charming Cecil Castellucci talking about her life as it relates to her new YA novel Beige. I love, Ms. Castellucci. She stopped by my library one day in search of Mo Willems (this is true) and I had the opportunity to chat with her. I want to be her friend.

Remember, I don't review YA, so I'll never be able to give my opinion on her newest, but for a book that I DID review, check out her new graphic novel The Plain Janes, which is completely child appropriate and deserves a glance.

Moving on, proof positive that Neil Gaiman is charm incarnate.

Two facts come to mind. The fact that he evinces no fear of the large furry rodent flying about his head proves that he IS Neil Gaiman. The fact that he has a bat in his house establishes that, yes, he does indeed live in the Midwest.

Well, so that was my intention with today's Video Sunday. And then I saw that Galleycat had posted the YouTube preview of the French adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis. The French speakers amongst you will appreciate this.

After that, everything broke down completely. Animation seemed a good way to go. Eric Berlin had linked to a nice and wholly illegal version of Calvin & Hobbes (which tied in nicely to the Chicken Spaghetti discussion on old C&H earlier this week. I was going to put it here. Heck, I copied the URL and everything. But look what happens when you click on it now.

Looks like old I-won't-sue Watterson actually brought action against whoever created this. Color me disappointed. Only a book trailer for a picture book could cheer me up now.

That's the stuff. Sent by illustrator Brian Floca himself no less.

And, for those of you who may have been a bit disappointed by the latest Spiderman film, take comfort. Here's a look at a bit of Spiderman ala Japan that is so oddly charming, I know I would have adored this film as a kid.

Because what is more children's literature related than comic books? This came from the Sandbox with love. I love how the woman could only memorize one line for the show.
