I'm an artist and illustrator based in Seattle, WA. I create a line of greeting cards with coffee related images that I sell worldwide, called n7designs and I design artstamps for a wonderful company called A Muse, owned by my friend, the fabulous Linda Carnell. I also do illustration work (ninasevenillustrations.com) and participate regularly on Illustration Friday challenges. This blog is about my art, my life, and the journey in between.

Hello and Happy New Year!
Since it's the beginning of a month, as well as the beginning of a new year, we have a new post up over at We Love to Illustrate. This month, we celebrate the new year with some fun owl illustrations. Who doesn't love a cute owl? I love designing owls and so do the rest of my blogging friends.
Wishing you ALL a happy, prosperous, healthy and creative new year. 2014 is going to be awesome!
Hello friends and Happy December! For the past few years, the members of my blog group have created some fun free printables for our December post and this year is no exception. The tradition continues! This year, we each created a collection of Holiday tags that are available for you to download from our site. These tags are free for personal use only - not to be copied or resold. Thank you and Enjoy! You can download my tags below and to see and download all the tags, visit our group blog - http://www.welovetoillustrate.com/2013/12/free-printable-gift-tags.html
This month over on the We Love to Illustrate blog
, we illustrated some Fall recipes, to get everyone in the mood for Thanksgiving. Here's my recipe for Turkey pot pie. To see the rest of the recipes, head on over here
. We also submitted these recipes to the fabulous website, They Draw and Cook
, which is filled with lots of yummy, beautiful illustrated recipes.
Another fun product that was created from one of my designs - a home decor accent rug, from Mohawk Rugs! They did a super job with this, I'm so pleased with how it turned out.
My Happy Fall Owl design was licensed by Cohesion Products awhile back and is now available as a fun garden flag. Thanks, Cohesion and Pink Light Studio! It looks great! I'm pretty sure they are available at Michaels Arts and Crafts stores, but I can't verify that info at this time. (hee hee, I sound like a politician!)
Hello lovelies, it's been awhile!
It's that time of the year again where the girls of We Love to Illustrate create some fun Halloween designs and offer them to our readers as FREE printables. Here's what I did - Treat Bag stickers!
You can download them, right HERE
, or go to We Love to Illustrate
and see what everyone else did and download them from there. Happy Halloween!
One of my designs from my Love to Cook collection was licensed by Design Design
for a Mother's Day card. I know Mother's Day is a long way off - we still have to get through Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, right? But, in the world of art licensing, the real world and what we are working on are always mixed up. Right now, in beautiful sunny weather, I'm drawing Santa and reindeer! It's the same for the manufacturers, too, I would think.
Regardless of what time of year it is, I think the card looks lovely. The colors are beautiful and the inside message is so sweet. Thank you Design Design
and thank you to Pink Light Studio
for getting me the license.
I have some exciting news! I'm now a designer for Keka Case
. They make the most beautiful cases for ipads and kindles, so I am so happy to have some of my designs in their line. Their site is fabulous! So many wonderful designs and lots of designers to choose from. Here are three of mine, so you can see what they look like. If you want to view all of my designs, you can see them, right here
It's always fun to read, but one of the best times for reading is summer! Sitting in the sun, on a deck or the beach and reading a book is one of life's great pleasures. To celebrate summer reading, my group blog, We Love to Illustrate
, made some fun bookmarks that are available for free, for downloading and printing out. It's best to use a cardstock or heavier paper and remember these are for personal use only. Thank you!
Here's the one I did and you can see the rest of them, right here.
It's Father's Day this Sunday, June 16, so I made a card for all the great Dad's out there, that is free for you to download and print out. (personal use only, please)
I made this as part of a post over on my group blog, We Love to Illustrate
, so there are more super fun designs from the other group members. You can see them all, right here
Happy Father's Day!!
Surtex is only a few weeks away! It's our biggest show of the year, so everyone at Pink Light Studio
has been crazy busy getting ready for it. Here's the promo I designed for it, that will be handed out to potential clients at the show and promoted throughout social media. Lucky me, the Pink Light Studio blog
has a little feature that includes my promo. Well, I better get back to designing!
Pink Light Studio has a beautiful new website, with artist's portfolios, a gallery, trend reports and more. It's fresh and fun, with tons of amazing art by some very talented designers. I'm so lucky and happy to be included. Here's my artist's page - to see everything - go here - pinklightstudio
Here's a design I did for our monthly post over at We Love to Illustrate
. We chose Earth Day as our monthly challenge and we all did variations on the theme with trees as the main design element. It's been up for awhile on that site, but I thought I'd wait until the actual Earth Day to post it here. So, Happy Earth Day, everyone! Let's keep recycling and doing other things to help save our planet!
This scotty dog fabric that I designed for Pink Light Studios
is now available from Robert Kaufman
. They are calliing it Whiskers and Tails. I see it is also available other places online, too - one of them is here
, at Allegro Fabrics.
The original design had some solid and dashed lined hearts in the background, which they removed for a simpler look. I like it, though, especially the pink version! Too cute!
My first fabric collection with Wilmington Prints
is now available for preview on the website Fat Quarter Shop.
I've been chosen as one of their new group of artists that design for a division of Wilmington Prints called Insights. I'm super excited about this new adventure and I'm so thrilled with the way this collection came out. The Holiday Sparkle Collection
will be available to purchase this June.
I just got some exciting news! This piece of art, that I made a few years ago, was just sold to the Seattle Art Museum! It will hang in the Volunteer/Docent breakroom. It won't be in the public eye, but I'm still thrilled to have my art in the building. I wish I had a better photo of it, this one is a bit blurry, but at least I have some record of it. Note to self: document all work, you never know where it might end up!
After thinking for a long time about what my word of the year will be, I finally decided it would be Better. I would like 2013 to be a better year than 2012. Not that 2012 was a bad year, I just want what we all want and that is for things to be better.
I also would like to be a better wife, a better daughter, a better sister, a better mom and a better friend. In today's crazy, busy world, I think we sometimes forget about the things that are most important to us - relationships.
I would like to be a better designer, a better illustrator, a better artist. I've done pretty good, maybe even good, but I know I can do better. Why not aspire to be great, rather than just good? I'd like to try for that.
And lastly, I want to be a better person. Kinder and more understanding. Helpful and never hurtful. I would love to see the world be a better place to live. If we all aspire to be better and do better, what a wonderful gift to the world that would be.
Wishing you all a BETTER 2013!
We are heading into show season! Whoo-hoo! The first one is CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) from Jan 12-15, in Anaheim, CA. My wonderful rep, Mary Beth, will be there showing my work, along with all the other super talented artists on her team. She will be in Booth 1146, in the Licensing and Design section, if you happen to be going to the show.
We all made a little ad to show on the Pink Light Studio blog. Here's mine:
See my groovy new logo in the bottom left? With Pink Light's help, I'm developing a BRAND!
You can see the rest of the ads, right here.
Hello friends! If you happen to have a big, ole' Walmart in your city - check it out - I have 2 scrapbooking collections there right now for Valentine's Day! They are sold as part of the Studio G line of crafting products. The Walmart nearest my home doesn't carry these and I haven't received any samples yet, so getting ahold of some photos or actual product has been difficult. I actually got these photos from screen shots of a video I found online.
Thanks, Steph, for making the video of your crafty haul from Walmart. It's the only way so far that I've been able to see my designs on these products.
It was super fun to work on these collections for Studio G. There are tons of products to choose from - Papers, stickers, stamps, butttons, ribbons, etc. If you happen to have purchased any of these and made something with them - send me a photo and I'll post it here. Happy crafting!
Over the past several years I've had the opportunity to illustrate several children's books for a wonderful company based out of Madrid, called Fabuloos Dreams. These books are unique because they are personalized to the child that will receive the book. Not only is the child's name on the title and each spread of the book, their beautiful litttle face is inserted into the story, so they become the main character of their very own story.
I've haven't said a lot about the books here or on Facebook, because the website was only available in Spanish. Now, I'm happy to say, the website has been updated and now comes in an English, as well as Spanish, version. It's a wonderfully designed site, with lots of super cute details.
The books are beautifully made, colorful and fun. The newest one that I illustrated is called The Pirate Captain, for the boy's version and The Pirate Princess, for the girls version.
I also illustrated The Red Ballon
, which is available in both boy's and girls versions.
This month, over on my group blog, we all designed some fun photo frames that are free for you to print out and insert your own photo into for that special someone on Valentine's Day. You can download the one I made here, or to see all of them, hop on over to We Love to Illustrate
. FREE for personal use only, not for resale. Thank you and enjoy!
Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends and family. Love and Peace.
