I'm an artist and illustrator based in Seattle, WA. I create a line of greeting cards with coffee related images that I sell worldwide, called n7designs and I design artstamps for a wonderful company called A Muse, owned by my friend, the fabulous Linda Carnell. I also do illustration work (ninasevenillustrations.com) and participate regularly on Illustration Friday challenges. This blog is about my art, my life, and the journey in between.

Surtex is only a few weeks away! It's our biggest show of the year, so everyone at
Pink Light Studio has been crazy busy getting ready for it. Here's the promo I designed for it, that will be handed out to potential clients at the show and promoted throughout social media. Lucky me, the
Pink Light Studio blog has a little feature that includes my promo. Well, I better get back to designing!
Pink Light Studio has a beautiful new website, with artist's portfolios, a gallery, trend reports and more. It's fresh and fun, with tons of amazing art by some very talented designers. I'm so lucky and happy to be included. Here's my artist's page - to see everything - go here -

Here's a design I did for our monthly post over at
We Love to Illustrate. We chose Earth Day as our monthly challenge and we all did variations on the theme with trees as the main design element. It's been up for awhile on that site, but I thought I'd wait until the actual Earth Day to post it here. So, Happy Earth Day, everyone! Let's keep recycling and doing other things to help save our planet!
This scotty dog fabric that I designed for
Pink Light Studios is now available from
Robert Kaufman. They are calliing it Whiskers and Tails. I see it is also available other places online, too - one of them is
here, at Allegro Fabrics.
The original design had some solid and dashed lined hearts in the background, which they removed for a simpler look. I like it, though, especially the pink version! Too cute!
My first fabric collection with
Wilmington Prints is now available for preview on the website
Fat Quarter Shop. I've been chosen as one of their new group of artists that design for a division of Wilmington Prints called Insights. I'm super excited about this new adventure and I'm so thrilled with the way this collection came out.
The Holiday Sparkle Collection will be available to purchase this June.
I just got some exciting news! This piece of art, that I made a few years ago, was just sold to the Seattle Art Museum! It will hang in the Volunteer/Docent breakroom. It won't be in the public eye, but I'm still thrilled to have my art in the building. I wish I had a better photo of it, this one is a bit blurry, but at least I have some record of it. Note to self: document all work, you never know where it might end up!
It's all about bunnies this month over on my group blog,
We Love to Illustrate. Here's what I did for our post - to see the rest of the cuteness, go
here. Bunnies are one of the funnest things to illustrate, I think we all had a blast with this one. Happy March!
Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends and family. Love and Peace.
This month, over on my group blog, we all designed some fun photo frames that are free for you to print out and insert your own photo into for that special someone on Valentine's Day. You can download the one I made here, or to see all of them, hop on over to
We Love to Illustrate. FREE for personal use only, not for resale. Thank you and enjoy!
Over the past several years I've had the opportunity to illustrate several children's books for a wonderful company based out of Madrid, called Fabuloos Dreams. These books are unique because they are personalized to the child that will receive the book. Not only is the child's name on the title and each spread of the book, their beautiful litttle face is inserted into the story, so they become the main character of their very own story.
I've haven't said a lot about the books here or on Facebook, because the website was only available in Spanish. Now, I'm happy to say, the website has been updated and now comes in an English, as well as Spanish, version. It's a wonderfully designed site, with lots of super cute details.
The books are beautifully made, colorful and fun. The newest one that I illustrated is called The Pirate Captain, for the boy's version and The Pirate Princess, for the girls version.
I also illustrated
The Red Ballon, which is available in both boy's and girls versions.
Hello friends! If you happen to have a big, ole' Walmart in your city - check it out - I have 2 scrapbooking collections there right now for Valentine's Day! They are sold as part of the Studio G line of crafting products. The Walmart nearest my home doesn't carry these and I haven't received any samples yet, so getting ahold of some photos or actual product has been difficult. I actually got these photos from screen shots of a video I found online.
Thanks, Steph, for making the video of your crafty haul from Walmart. It's the only way so far that I've been able to see my designs on these products.
It was super fun to work on these collections for Studio G. There are tons of products to choose from - Papers, stickers, stamps, butttons, ribbons, etc. If you happen to have purchased any of these and made something with them - send me a photo and I'll post it here. Happy crafting!
After thinking for a long time about what my word of the year will be, I finally decided it would be Better. I would like 2013 to be a better year than 2012. Not that 2012 was a bad year, I just want what we all want and that is for things to be better.
I also would like to be a better wife, a better daughter, a better sister, a better mom and a better friend. In today's crazy, busy world, I think we sometimes forget about the things that are most important to us - relationships.
I would like to be a better designer, a better illustrator, a better artist. I've done pretty good, maybe even good, but I know I can do better. Why not aspire to be great, rather than just good? I'd like to try for that.
And lastly, I want to be a better person. Kinder and more understanding. Helpful and never hurtful. I would love to see the world be a better place to live. If we all aspire to be better and do better, what a wonderful gift to the world that would be.
Wishing you all a BETTER 2013!
We are heading into show season! Whoo-hoo! The first one is CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) from Jan 12-15, in Anaheim, CA. My wonderful rep, Mary Beth, will be there showing my work, along with all the other super talented artists on her team. She will be in Booth 1146, in the Licensing and Design section, if you happen to be going to the show.
We all made a little ad to show on the Pink Light Studio blog. Here's mine:
See my groovy new logo in the bottom left? With Pink Light's help, I'm developing a BRAND!
You can see the rest of the ads, right
here.
Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful, festive and fun holiday season!
I've been meaning to blog about these super fun products, made from my designs, that were licensed by Formations and sold at
Coldwater Creek this holiday season. I got these samples and they are stunning! There's a big glass plate, samll ceramic bowls and small plates, 2 cutting boards and 3 felt stuffie ornaments. My favorite is the bird ornament. He's so adorable!
Thanks to my rep, Mary Beth, Formations and Coldwater Creek! Happy Holidays!
Pink Light Studio has been featured in
Art Buyer Magazine this month and one of my designs is shown in the ad. How cool is that! Thanks Art Buyer and Pink Light Studio!
It's the first of the month already! Wow, here we are in
December! So, of course that means we have a new post up over on my group blog,
We Love to Illustrate. This month, we all used the same template and designed our own little Christmas gingerbread house inside of it. When cut-out, folded and glued, they make super cute 3-D ornaments or objects to use in decorating for the holidays.
Here's mine:
You can download it here or go to
www.welovetoillustrate to see the rest of the houses and download them all! They would look so awesome in a row on a mantle or shelf, don't you think?
With all the excitement of seeing my everyday holiday designs in Target a couple of weeks ago, I totally forgot that I had a design picked up by Garven for Target's Christmas section this year, too! I went back today and checked it out and snuck a photo. It's BIG, really BIG! This baby measures 16.75" x 23.5"!
It's really pretty with foils added to some of the ornaments and a sweet ribbon for a handle.
I'm such a lucky girl! Thanks, Mary Beth! (my wonderful rep)
It's time for our monthly post over at
We Love to Illustrate. This month, we take on fairy tale characters and do our own take on them. I, of course, had to create Little Red and the Big, Bad Wolf. She's just so classic and fun to do. I chose to use a limited color palette to really showcase the red and to create a spooky(ish) forest scene. To see all the other awesome illos by my blog buddies, go
here.
I have some wall decals coming out this fall for
Roomates and I happened to see a sneak peek of one of them, over on their
blog, so I thought I would share it, too. Here's what they said about this one:
"Tree wall decals continue to be popular decorating options for nurseries and bedrooms, and I think this next addition is going to be no exception. We've combined a sweet little tree with stylish pink and purple alphabet letters and patterned animal friends to create this fun (and educational!) alphabet tree. This would look so sweet in a little girl's nursery! Not a fan of the colors? Don't fret: we've got more options coming down the road, from the looks of things."
They have a fun jungle set coming out soon, too, that I designed. Thank you, Roomates!
In the world of Art Licensing, you never know what kind of proucts your designs will end up on. I was so excited that these designs of mine were chosen by
Luck's Cakes, to be used as edible cake decorations.
Their new catalog just came out and these will be available soon.
Wow! It's October already and time to start decorating for Fall and Halloween! We have some fun FREE Printables over on my group blog,
We Love to Illustrate. I made this nifty banner. You can download it here or over on the group blog site. There are more fun things from the other fab members of the group, right
here.
Hello friends! I have some exciting news that I've been waiting ages to share. I have some designs that are on products currently on sale at Target! Yes! Me, in Target! One of my dreams, when I first started out in art licensing, was to have some designs in Target and it came true. (Thank you, Mary Beth!)
This photo shows 2 of the gift wrap patterns that are in the collection. There is also one more gift wrap pattern, gift bags, a gift box and some fun package embellishments. I'll have more pictures soon of the entire wall, but for now I just took this photo of the wrap that I bought when I was in the store the other day. The camera in my phone isn't working, so I'll have to go back and get a total picture some other day.
These items are located in the greeting cards and gift wrap section of the store, because they are considered more for everyday packaging, rather than being in the full blown Christmas wrap area.
More to come! I just had to share what I have now because it's so exciting to me!
My sister went to her local Target and took some pictures for me, so now I get to show off some more of the products they made with my designs. You can see the gift bag and box they made with the poinsetta design and the red tone on tone holly print. They did a wrap and a bag with the holly print. You can't really see the embellishments too well, because of the glare of the plastic bag, but they are really fun. I'm so honored and thrilled to be in Target this holiday season!
I just saw that some wall decals that I designed for
RoomMates are up on their website. I love what they did with the images - so cute for a nursery!
