It is all about me (well most of the time)
1. 2016 SCBWI Winter Conference

It is that time of year!
The portfolio is dusted off, new artwork has been added, postcards are printed,
friends have been contacted.
That's Right!
The 2016 SCBWI Winter Conference is here.
Three days of  getting up early getting home late, lectures, breakout sessions, portfolio review, hanging with friends, and that little voice in the back of my head saying
"will this year be the one I get discovered? "
It is a small voice.
It does happen, I have seen it with my own eyes, read interviews from other artist I admire.
So... Why not me?
I have been going to the winter conference since 2011 I knew very little back then I thought all I needed to do was show up and POOF!
That was squashed after the my very first breakout session with Art Director Lucy Ruth Cummins who showed an illustration she loved and said "I have been looking for the right project for this illustrator for four (4) years"
Four Years!?!?
My artwork has grown in that time I have a voice. It is clear and it is strong.
So... Why not me?
I know from my own experience that it can be a long road to getting published,
for some it takes longer then others.
Those same words said by Lucy was said again by Art Director Giuseppe Castellano during the illustration workshop he offers that I took.
Four years
   So... ?
(I like to keep it at a whisper)
