1. COOKING AND CRAFTS CONTEST- TWO NEW BOOKS TO CELEBRATE SUMMER!

CONTEST! CONTEST! CONTEST!

Leave me a good cooking or craft tip for children and teens as a comment or email to enter to win!  Can also send recipes and craft ideas to do with children and teens.   Winners will be announced August 15.

Zestbooks has donated two of there latest titles for my summer blog giveaway.   Cooking and Crafts are two of the best ways to pass the relaxing weeks that are left of summer. The Green Teen Cookbook is a new cooking title and Sticky Fingers is a new craft title from Zestbooks.
Both books are up for grabs for yourself, your pre-teen or teen child or to add to your school library.

The Green Teen Cookbook by Laurane Marchive and Pam McElvoy has a range of different recipes.  They range from simple snacks, to cultural recipes to yummy desserts.   As I saw flipping through the book at first glance the recipe Crepes with Orange Sauce caught my eye.

This recipe is by Jules Allarie who learned how to make crepes from his dad and celebrates Crepe day by flipping a crepes with a coin in his hand.  If the crepe lands in the pan, you will be prosperous all year.

It also highlights different greenmarkets to visit, including my favorite the Union Square Greenmarket.  It also lists a number of food websites including one written by a teen called 17 and baking

If cooking is not for your teen, then maybe a Sticky Fingers crafts project is for them.   This book is written by Sophie Maletsky.  Check out her Sophie's World site to see some of the cool creations.  All you need is a roll or two of duck tape from any craft store.  The book has an At School section which is perfect for back to school projects.  School librarians will want to check out Project 43 which is a Bookmark with Tassel.
