This book, like her others, is hysterical. Poppy Wyatt is about to be married. She and her friends are out at a fashion lunch and, after letting her friends try on her engagement ring, she loses it. She, not surprisingly, freaks out. While she is trying to find it, her purse is stolen and with it, her phone. Luckily, she finds a phone in the garbage. That is when the fun starts as the phone belongs to the assistant to a hot shot executive. She quit and tossed the phone in the garbage where Poppy finds it. Poppy refuses to give up the phone and what ensues is a witty exchange of texts, emails, phone calls, and an in person meeting between Poppy and the exec. She won’t give the phone up because of the ring, but promises to pass on all information. I laughed so much when I read this book. Kinsella has a way of making the most unlikely of scenarios delightful and engaging. If you enjoy chick lit, you’ve got to check this one out.

This one was a great addition to the Lt. Eve Dallas series. In this novel, Eve is being portrayed by a movie star in an upcoming film about one of her big cases. Of course, there are other actors all portraying the important people in her life from Roarke to Peabody, Dr. Mira, and others. While she isn’t thrilled (surprise, surprise) about having to schmooze with the actors, she understands it is unavoidable. However, the end of an evening party results in the death of the actress who was playing Peabody, Eve’s partner. Eve is on the case, but it is much harder when she is somewhat involved in the murder and was even at the scene when it occurred. But Eve is nothing if not tenacious and so she keeps putting the pieces together until she has her murdered. A well done tale and no blood, guts, shooting, or really any graphic violence. Not that I am opposed to that, but this was a nice departure.

Oh, that’s really cute! I don’t know if I would actually read it, but being from Chicago, I’ve seen the Thorn Rooms many times and that would be a nice connection to the book. I love being able to identify with the setting! It makes me able to picture myself there.
