I am a self-taught artist using paper as my media of choice. One of my earliest memories is sitting next to my grandmother cutting and pasting my creations with paste she made from flour and water. My artistic nature formed early, drawing on my parents walls and tables and working with my hands. Apart from being an artist who fancies sewing, photography, metal smithing and woodworking, I am a wife and mother of two boys.

Sometimes we need a good dose of cute!
New work made from paper...I used dye ink and rubber stamps for the background.
It's a Saturday with sprinkles on top kinda day. Here in Houston they are called sprinkles but when I lived in Boston they were called jimmies. What are they called where you are?

How cute is the recycled sweater throw from Better Homes & Gardens? I just love this idea. The thrift store near me will be marking all the winter sweaters 50% soon. I think I might need to go get a few and make one.
I made Reggie using scrap paper I have in my drawer (but don't tell him). Little dude is going on a date or something.
My girlfriend is getting married in May and I am doing her invitations. I have been slowly working on them but today I really rolled with it. My back is so sore and it's time for a break.
The invites are like a little book...very cute. I will show you when I finish. My fluffball cat Madi was keeping me company warming her belly under the lamp.

My friend Nicole told me about this book and said it was a must read. She was right! This book is very good and hard to put down.
Henrietta Lacks, a poor Southern tobacco farmer, was buried in an unmarked grave sixty years ago. Yet her cells -- taken without her knowledge, grown in culture and bought and sold by the billions -- became one of the most important tools in medical research. Rebecca Skloot takes us on an extraordinary journey from the "colored" ward of Johns Hopkins Hospital in the 1950s to East Baltimore today, where Henrietta's family struggles with her legacy.
Here is a new little friend I did using paper. I enjoyed cutting him out and making the wonky eyes.
Once this was dry I went back in and added lots of details.
I'm adding more matte medium to this piece because it's so thick with papers.
Thanks to my local Home Depot I was able to get some free scrap wood...yay! I did this using an old light bulb and red wire.
sealing up the letters with matte medium
I will have all this for sale and much, much more on Saturday. Stop by and say "Hi" if you are in the area.
I'm so with you! Even though this doesn't happen in the book, it's still my favorite part of the movie. Gosh, now I want to go watch it again! I wish you lived closer! We could have a Pride & Prejudice watch party with lots of crafting on the side. ;) lol
I wish we did live closer to me!
