We are glad to receive unsolicited manuscripts and suggestions. If you feel that your writing style and manuscript are compatible with our list, please send us either a 250 word synopsis or your manuscript which should be no longer than 1200 words for picture books and 2500 words for junior fiction.
Please send the manuscript to our Commissioning Editor, Henriette Barkow, with a short covering letter saying why you think your story would make a great book. Please also send a stamped, self-addressed envelope for the return of the manuscript. We do not accept submissions by email.
We receive many manuscripts each week, and aim to get back to you within two months. Please be patient!
We are currently keen to develop the following series:
· Fables around the World - this series explores the rich diversity of fables from different cultures. Each book consists of two fables – one from Aesop and the other from another culture. Our Lion Fables by Jan Omerod will be published by November 2006, while Fox Fables, published in February 2006 is widely in demand. Please note that the word count for these books should be around 750 to 1200 words.
· Junior Fiction for 9 years+ The books in this new series will cover a wide range of topics and themes. There will be line drawings on each page but the text must be at the heart of the book. The story should have an interesting plot and be well constructed. It should be no longer than 2500 words.
