Legacy is a unique book in which the story line actually takes place over a year time frame. This slow pace allows for the involvement of many characters with minimal confusion and for a love triangle to develop. I'm used to reading books with main female characters that have fire and grit. Princess Alera is passive and seems to be hiding all her spunk underneath all those curls and skirts. I guess being stuck in a castle and throwing one ball after another isn't my cup of tea. My favorite part is when she finally puts on a pair of pants. Now, I realize that her passive nature is most likely due to the region in which she lives, where women are more seen then heard. I look forward to the next book and hope that Alera will challenge the men in her life more.
