Stotz PUBLISHER: Future Word Publishing (May 1, 2011) http://www.futureword.net FORMAT: Paperback PRICE: $11.95 PAGES: 36 ILLUSTRATOR: Valerie Bouthyette http://www.vbouthyette.com ISBN – 10: 0984589058 ISBN – 13: 9780984589050 Kailee’s belly wakes her up one night making all kinds of growling noises. Maybe she’s hungry. She goes downstairs to ask Mommy for something to eat and Mommy says she can get herself a fruit roll-up. Does she herself a fruit roll – up? No. Kailee reaches for the jar of peanut butter! She loves peanut butter! She hates that yucky green stuff that Mommy’s always trying to get her to eat. As she’s reaching for the jar of peanut butter, the door slams shut. Who slammed the door shut? Why did the door slam shut? Magically, the cans in the pantry come to life talking and singing to Kailee. In the cans’ own way they show Kailee that different colors of food can taste good! Will Kailee learn to like different kinds of foods? Children will love Pea In The Peanut Butter by Allyn Stotz. In this colorful picture book, children learn from Ms. Stotz that it’s not the color of the food that make it taste good. It’s the food itself. The colorful illustrations by Valerie Bouthyette are done in all primary colors and bring the story to life. This includes a mystery for Kailee’s mommy to figure out. Why is there a pea in the peanut butter? I highly recommend this delightful book. Parents will love it for showing their picky eaters that other foods are good too. Children will love it for it’s magical and entertaining story.
