Biography: Dayle Campbell Gaetz

Dayle spent her childhood building forts, riding bikes, and generally having fun outdoors with her three best friends. At the end of each exciting day, she loved to read. Then, after lights out came the best time of all, the time to make up adventures of her own. Today the adventures continue and Dayle has written 21 books for readers from ages seven to 17.

Never knowing what idea will strike next, she writes stories that range from adventure to history and science fiction to mystery. She is currently working on the fifth in a series of novels that involve young sleuths who are making their way across Canada, one mystery at a time.

Donning a slightly different hat, Dayle has written biographies for young readers and nonfiction articles for readers of all ages.

For the past three years Dayle has instructed the course: “Writing for Children and Teenagers” through the Institute of Children’s Literature, based in Connecticut. Her students work their way toward becoming published authors of magazine articles and books by sending in assignments for feedback and editing suggestions.
