I am a children's illustrator and author -- 27 years into freelancing and still not old enough to know better. As I write, I have finished a new book for publication in the fall of 2009: Tucker Took It, a sequel to my book, Farley Found It.

I paint digitally after two decades of being a watercolor illustrator. I love the freedom and the depth of color that comes with digital painting.

My passion is to encourage the story ideas of elementary students, so I travel extensively throughout the school year speaking at schools. My presentation is not about my own work, but is focused on the imaginations of kids. In all my sessions, both the assemblies and the grade-level workshops, I draw improvisationally, guided by the ideas I'm pulling out of the kids in the audience. Just last year, I coined a word for this blend of art and performance. I'm an illustrationist. Drawings and stories take shape right before your eyes. Now I just need to find a barker.
