MorePeace is not enduring, innocence is fragile, and darkness has fallen over the small town of West Bridge Massachusetts. 64-year-old JOHN WEAVER has been keeping a secret for the past ten years. As long as the house remained empty, he did not have to risk being ridiculed by the people of his community for revealing that the old stories about the mansion up on the hill were true. However, that has changed and now he has no choice. "Something evil lives in that house," he tells his lifelong friend ROBERT HENDERSON, a pillar in their community.
Something evil does live in that House, the 284-year-old KENSINGTON MANSION 34-year-old retired billionaire LAWRENCE TELLCOTT has just moved into. For him it is a dream come true; but the dream is about to become a vicious nightmare of cruelty and torment as he is dragged down beneath the mansion, through bone littered passageways to a dark place where no one can hear his screams.
Darkness has also fallen on the life of 32-year-old RACHEL McCLEARY; her 17-year-old son AARON has disappeared without a trace. She has received little help from the authorities and has relied on her friends to help her search for him. Day by day, her suffering is compounded by unanswered questions, and her hope for reunion is devoured by the passage of time. It has been two and a half months now, two and a half months spent in a night of heartbreak, loss, and fear.
Her questions will be answered, but reunion will be bitter and filled with sorrow as she and two old men (JOHN and ROBERT) journey into demonic shadows of terror where they will witness unimaginable horror, where their hearts are crushed from a loss that is more than they can bear, and where their lives are forever changed because they dare to encroach into the bowels of evil and curse the darkness.
CURSE THE DARKNESS is a horror story about the merciless cruelty and brutality of evil, the heartbreak caused by the loss of life, about the enduring faith and love of a mother for her son, and the loyalty shared by two life long friends. It is this faith and love that provides John, Robert and Rachel with the strength and courage to risk everything to save the lives of two suffering souls from an evil that has spent over 400 years perfecting its methods of torture and murder. The novel is set in the town of West Bridge, located in the Brook Shire Hills of western Massachusetts in July of 1998.
