Trudy White was the illustrator for Markus Zusak's The Book Thief. Seems her name is not mentioned in reference to this title very often other than in the interviews I found with M.Z. Kane/Miller gives credit to our authors and illustrators since without the pictures (or photographs) the books we publish just wouldn't be the same. Trudy hails from Australia and is talented and witty. Her creativity shows in this wonderful little book Could You? Would You? which is full of questions (and some answers) to 'tickle the imagination' and that encourage readers to look at the world a little differently. Several people have requested this book for use in writing workshops or in the classroom to get writers' pens moving. Others have mentioned how similar the questions are to the little Table Topics cards that are available. And still others (like myself) enjoy the book with a child prompting young imaginative people to explain and explore their world. Deep questions (What makes you smile? When do you feel content? What makes you grumpy? What makes you miserable? What makes you angry? When do you feel loved?) and perhaps not so deep questions (Can you wiggle your ears like a rabbit? Can you peel an orange in one long snake? What is the longest daisy chain you have ever made? Can you walk without making a sound? Can you read upside-down?) alongside Trudy's endearing drawings makes this a wonderful book for readers and writers of all ages.
