Like countless boys before him, he has a dream of playing for a top football club as well as representing his country in the 2012 Olympics. Beacon for the Cup is a compelling and highly entertaining story that looks at the busy life of this twelve-year-old boy as he works to achieve his dream. It highlights his many achievements and disappointments, successes and sacrifices, as he struggles with the numerous difficulties of growing up. It also shows the effect that events have on his relationship with his close family: his mum, dad, and disabled brother Richard. When he is spotted by a scout from the Albion School of Excellence, his life becomes even more complicated. Can he balance his sporting ambitions and his home life?
