The first English version of this masterpiece was printed in 1892. Since tha5 time, the book has been translated into more than 200 languages. The story is perhaps best known through the freely adapted Walt Disney classic "Pinocchio", (1940), an artistic triumph in which, howeever, significant changes were made to the charactor of Gepetto and the cricket and in various plot elements.
