Today's youth face enormous stresses, and peer pressure makes it harder for adolescents and teenagers to be ethical and honest. In On Wings Like Eagles (sequel to Give Me a Break), PJ provides a positive role model for surviving junior high school and growing up. PJ learns the hard way that it's possible to make it through the obstacles of peer pressure and junior high to become a "normal" person.

On Wings Like Eagles picks up where Give Me a Break left off, following PJ through his eighth grade year. PJ has matured: no longer the class clown (but keeping his sense of humor), he has developed a sense of responsibility. However, because of his reputation, he's still questioned when things go awry. PJ's clever antics keep the story moving through the many problems he faces. His friendship with Kent (whom he's known since preschool) changes for the worst when he learns that Kent has taken an undesirable and perhaps dangerous path through life. PJ also learns the importance of having a friend who's a girl when he meets and gets to know Theresa. And when he intervenes in a close friend's potential suicide, he learns the most important lesson of all...trusting God.
