Sailing through the fogs of time as she once sailed the sparkling seas, comes the schooner Dancer and her salty sun-scorched crew. The year is 1812 and their mission is to force the British from the Pacific. This is a daunting task for Captain Jake and his nine-man crew. Squarely opposed to the plan are British Captains Darter of the Sprite and Buell of the Leonid, a third rater with a compliment of 50 men. The odds seem a bit uneven but the inspiration of the beauteous Felicia gives Jake a definite edge. In a time when tar-caulked decks, slow matches and flintlocks, salt pork and ships' biscuit were the state of the art, Dancer's voyages were punctuated by the thunder of canvas, the cries of seagulls, the blast of black powder-belching cannon and the bark of a swivel gun. She sails through seas both sea-dappled and white-frothed to the ends of the earth.
