A party book by high-profile children's television presenter Emma Forbes, aimed at older children who want to organize parties without the help of an adult. She has devised an original party book that is full of suggestions for new themes to replace the overworked reasons and occasions for throwing a party. Emma suggests that any day can be celebrated - with a picnic party for example, or a midnight feast, or a quieter Sunday brunch party, as well as particular occasions like a Valentine's day party or an Easter party. There are ideas for making invitations, decorating the party room and thinking up games to play. Every party also has its own celebration cake, from runny honey cake to soggy chocolate birthday cake complete with yogurt icing. Readers are encouraged to come up with their own ideas for parties too, and to organize everything for themselves, from the invitations to the finishing touches on the cake (and the clearing up afterwards). The book is aimed at children old enough to cook and prepare the party with minimal help from adults, and contains a page of safety hints. Emma has been photographed demonstrating the finished dishes for each party, and there are also colourful illustrations within each chapter showing the decorations, games, prizes and presents.
