My Friend and Teacher Sammie is a heart-warming true story of Sammie, a dog that somehow lost his way on a cold and snowy November day, in a small town in the mountains of northern California. Somehow Sammie found his way to an old country store where he huddled on the snow covered porch until he was discovered. After an extensive search for his owners Sammie was adopted by the founder. A strong bond and friendship developed, but soon after, the bond would be tested. Life in the mountains for a dog would be thought a good life by most people, but a year after finding Sammie would challenge that thought, Sammie's life, my life and the way I think and feel forever. My Friend and Teacher Sammie is a story about my dog Sammie that suffered a disability and leaving me with the dilemma of having my friend put to sleep, or treating his disability in hopes that he could have a normal life with me. Take a few moments from the troublesome world and let Sammie touch yours and your children's hearts as much as he has mine.
